"Murder your enemies with a guitar"
A long history made short:
In 2000 Aaron Nolan aged 14 and Aj Rucinsky 12 met and decided to put their musical talents together. Though beginning were rough, they were determined to get their music to the ears of those who were willing to hear it. After playing local gigs for some time, it became apparent they needed a bass guitarist, they literally trained friend Greg Courtney to play bass and piano, after some time the trio was together playing benefit shows and parties around their hometown, under the name "the threadbare trigneta". Times were rough with school and work pressing on them at the same time.
Aaron left for a year to Germany and Aj left to Oregon, in the meantime they were writing new material, and Greg had found a new drummer, and two guitarists, Assclown, and Justin Haider. When Aaron returned they asked him to sing and help with writing and organization. They really hit it off on the first show and began playing shows on a weekly basis. They recorded a 7 track EP entitled "Sleep Where You Fall" some of the notable tracks and unreleased songs can be found on the old band page here.
The original drummer Max Holfeldt left and Aj Rucinsky on good terms with Aaron, decided to give him a call. He fit, and he brought a new dimension to the group. Things were going so well they had aroused interest of various record labels, promoters and were requested to come open for Craig's Brother in Santa Cruz, CA as well as record a new 3 track EP.
The guitarist Assclown decided to break away and took Justin with him to form his new band. The band did reasonably well as a scene band. Justin was forced out of the group due to Assclown's need for creative control. Justin, Greg, Aj and Aaron decided that they should begin again under a more proper name "Liberty For Liars". Jesting at the government, and questioning control is one of their main themes. Since then the band has been geographically challenged to put it lightly. Greg is in DC, Aaron in Cambridge, Aj Havre, and Justin in Missoula. April 2011 a new tour will be launched to celebrate the band's coming back together and will rock faces off all around the US.
At the current time, Aaron is searching for temporary members for Liberty For Liars in the UK to sub in for shows. Some shows should start happenening towards the summer or fall of 2009. Keep your eyes peeled, and support L4L!
