What is an asylum seeker?
An asylum seeker is someone of any age who has fled his or her home country to find a safe place elsewhere.
What's the Asylum Pledge?
Before the next election, Liberty is asking all Members of Parliament (MPs) and candidates for Parliament to sign a pledge that they will remember the importance of refugee protection when making policy.Please contact your MP and candidates for Parliament and ask them to remember that Britain has a history as a place of refuge for people who are suffering. Show your MP that you reject "xenophobia" (fear of people from different countries and cultures).
Protect the right to asylum, read the pledge and ask your MP to sign.

We were founded in 1934, and back then we were known as the National Council for Civil Liberties. We are dedicated to promoting values surrounding human rights, such as dignity and equal treatment.

Young People and Human Rights
Children and young people have a wide range of rights, including the right to express their views and to be involved with decision-making in all the areas which affect them. Find out more at Your Rights: Children and Young People.
The Mosquito
Right now Liberty is working with young people, 11 Million and the National Youth Agency on the BUZZ OFF campaign to stamp out the "Mosquito", a device which was originally used to scare away vermin. It makes a very high frequency buzzing sound which cannot be heard by people over the age of 25.
Liberty believe that it is degrading and unfair to use it to make young people leave public places, such as outside supermarkets. Young people have described the noise as “distressing” and “unbearable”. There are around 3,500 of these devices in our country.
So why is the Mosquito a problem? Liberty is concerned that:
- The device will affect those who are behaving as well as those that are misbehaving...
- It targets only young people when problems may also be caused by adults...
- It exposes young people to extreme discomfort as if they were worth no more than a garden pest.

what i mean is that someone whose life is not traumatized and brutalized as a regular sequence of every day events unconsciously seeks the camouflage and shelter of apathy and banality from the reality of such devastating anguish and terror ...
but the spirit of young people who are used as sex slaves in the systematized global industry of human trafficking is now reaching out to the human fellowship in hope and desperation and through technology ...
it is scary when humanity turns a blind eye to this horror ...
its like ignoring genocide whilst it is happening ...
what i am asking is that if you hear the cry of these young people who are existing in an environment of torture and brutality each and every day that you then please do not turn away from them ...
please reach deeply into your heart and soul and please in 2009 join a movement or become a part of an event that challenges modern slavery in the 21st century ...
