Libidoswitch are a three strong head charge borne of the fires of 3 seperate rock entities, NYC's 'SUKATASH, Spain's 'KLAM, and Derry's 'MILQUETOAST'.
Through many years of slogging it out on the various circuits the three, Andy, Squintdawg, and Adrian felt that their time within those power units had come to a close, and a shared passionate interest in the 'alternative','Hardcore' and 'metal' subgenres brought them together to form LIBIDOSWITCH in early '03.
In the beginning the basic balls-to-the-walls rock roots were wholly evident in the first original material put together by the band, but soon the fires within were burning a new fuse and their brand of 'Alternative metal' began to combust....
The gigging began in the summer of '03, with audiences mainly consisting of friends, and friends of friends, until the musical style took a dramatic turn, bringing with it an audience there for the music and not simply as a favour. Examples of how the band has transformed musically can be heard on their first E.P., 'Dodgy Gear', with the title itself born out of mockery of the equipment used on the recording! The E.P. did reasonably well, and garnered a small but loyal following locally.
Times changed and the musical understanding between the members intensified, allowing them to create short bursts of aggressive creative energy, short, sharp kick in the balls, no frills tunes. The standard is set, and the intensity of the music continues to increase right up the present. Only witnessing the band live can one truly taste the electricity they generate together. Currently sparring for gigs, (as only bands who survive on the fringes of the mainstream can understand) and ever ready to play, LIBIDOSWITCH continue their sensory assault wherever given the chance to wreak havoc!
'Under the influence' is the latest, if not small, contribution to a growing scene from a band made of true believers, for believers.
