"It is the individual, the oddity, the peculiarity that counts." -- Chuck Jones.
I like books, all kinds of books, but I've recently gotten back into comic books: Grendel, Next Wave, Fables, Y the last man, Astonishing X-men, and anything HELLBOY. Independent music (live is the best), independent & foreign films, talking shit, talking life, sewing, art, yoga, vegetarian foods, animals, travel, scifi & fantasy, SCRABBLE, goofing off, and various other ways of forgetting that I will eventually die. I like cheese and books best.
Music
Andrew Bird, The Decemberists, Neko Case, Kelly Hogan, Elvis Costello, Kate Bush,The Jazz Butcher, New Order, SMOKE, Tom Waits, Throwing Muses, R.E.M., Michael Nyman, Cocteau Twins, The Jody Grind, The Blacks, Alejandro Escovedo, Ani DiFranco, P.J. Harvey, Everything But the Girl, Bach, Dvorak, Cat Stevens, The Beatles, Belle and Sebastian and oh I can't think of it all. . .
Where did all the good shows go? Home Movies. Futurama. Battlestar Galactica. Doctor Who. Lucy Daughter of the Devil. Burn Notice... Spaced. Dexter. LOST. DEADWOOD. My alltime favorite is BTVS. Thank god for DVDs. Now I relive it over and over and over again.
Books
Goes without sayin--this one is too long but my tops are: The Sound and the Fury, Four Quartets, To Kill a Mockingbird, BELOVED, Zami & Sister Outsider, Remembering the Bonehouse, Gender Outlaw, Bastard Out of Carolina, Moments of Being (by Virginia Woolf), My Year of Meats, And The Band Played On, Alice in Wonderland, The Once and Future King, Art Objects, Tipping the Velvet, Galway Kinnell, Maus, Dark Knight, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and on and on and on. David Sedaris anyone?
Heroes

About me: Words. Words. Words. I have worked with books for almost all of my life. I like to read. I like to read a lot. A couple of years ago I changed careers--stepping out of the world of the academic library into the world of multimedia production. I'm kind of a media junkie, I like to make games of most everything I do, including love and work--I work very hard at play and play at work...
