About me: Tony Bevacqua is a psychological consultant in private practice. He also provides transitional counseling services for Summit Malibu and Avalon Ranch Treatment Center in Malibu, CA.
He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of California San Diego in Sociology and his Master of Arts Degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University.
He is certified in Rapid Change Therapy which is a solution focused form of counseling based on mind, body and spirit principles and from which he discovered his working theory about behavioral change and is currently conducting a research study to support this theory on why Alcoholic’s Anonymous may not be appropriate for everyone.
He also addresses the growing number of individuals that seek alternatives to the AA approach and currently specializes in the challenges of high functioning people in need of a more compatible form of treatment support unrelated to AA and the 12 Step programs.
Tony is also an advisor for GETTING OUT BY GOING IN, a non-profit organization dedicated to facilitating Rapid Change Therapy for incarcerated and at-risk individuals.
He also uses a system he calls Reprocessing, Reprogramming and Integration which further integrates clinical psychology, spiritual concepts and scientifically proven strategies for creating immediate and lasting results in people’s lives that are mentally and emotionally stuck and whose decision making and life choices have been problematic.
He is an active alumnus of Pepperdine University, and participates in the university’s career coaching program and has additional interests in the Pediatric Aids Foundation and the Special Olympics.
He is also teaches psychology courses in the Los Angeles Community College District.

I knew I was going through some things, but everybody told me how great my life was so I couldn’t understand why I always felt so bad. I had many friends, but no friends that I could really just talk to about stuff. After I got arrested everybody was in my face and my mother told Tony about the stuff I had done. We were so worried about our son and had tried everything. Our psychiatrist seemed disinterested and prescribed an anti-depressant after one visit. We were not happy with that. Our son did not like his psychologist and stopped going. We enrolled him in a specialized program for teenagers and at the start he did well, but some of the other kids were not good influences. Tony was thoughtful and enthusiastic. He made us accountable and said that we were part of the problem. We rejected that idea at first, having gone to a MFT before, but we realized that the MFT also had a son that was having difficulty and had not taken responsibility either. It took a lot of work, but things are much better now and my son is doing great. Working with Tony was a very unique experience.
