I surround myself with my friends, provide some alcohol and the right environment- and magic happens.
I almost feel apologetic- except that I don't: I like watching TV. Not *all* TV, and I have my TiVo so I can watch it when wish- but I have my four hours of TV or so a week that I don't miss.
I am going to Burning Man again this year. I occasionally go to the Rocky Horror Picture Show in Los Angeles.
But really? The secret to my happiness is about being around people you love, doing the things that you love. Maybe it's being at home alone playing video games with people who live in New Zealand- or your roomate who is 40 feet away.
Or taking my dog to the beach. Or driving up the coast to a winery for a weekend. Or finding restaurants that have been lurking in Los Angeles since before my parents were born.
Or just talking. You know- those talks when you meet someone for the first time? When you look at the clock and realize that you have been in each other's brain for four hours- and it seems like not long enough...
I'm almost always up for Random Acts of Silliness and Geekery- with a dash of Discord.
Music
My musical tastes are... strange.
Old music. A capella Music. Drinking Songs. Sea shanties. Old KROQ Stuff. KCRW. Stephen Lynch. The Foremen. Weird Al. But really- music that I hear on the radio is not one of my passions. Percell, Ravenscroft, Traditional drinking songs- Harmony, vocal stylings- these things I like.
I don't really have a lot of music to listen to. Educate me.
Movies
Fight Club (always brings me up when I'm feelin' down- I know- I'm a freak), Dressed To Kill, X-Men and X2, The Indiana Jones Trilogy (alright- just I and III), The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Evil Dead II, Army Of Darkness, LOTR- All of them, The Goonies, Buckaroo Banzai, Star Wars- all of them (yes, even the new ones), Tron, Real Genius, Weird Science, American Beauty, Dogma (anything by Kevin Smith, really), Patton, The Quiet Man, Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas, Time Bandits, Monthy Python And The Holy Grail, Cowboy Beebop, Akira, Ghost In The Shell. You get the idea- right? Shaun of the Dead. Hot Fuzz.

About me: First and Foremost: Burn the Man.
When I was young- I had goals. These seemed completely unattainable: graduate from high school, go to college, graduate from college, do something you love, buy a house, get a car, get a dog, get stability, get a retirement fund, save for future children's education. Well- I have those things now. Oh noes!
So what the hell do I do now? I've the most amazing and wonderful group of friends I could ever imagine. Friendship and love doesn't even begin to describe it. But- what do I do now? I know I asked that already- I did it again for emphasis.
My life is at a status quo. But, do I want to change that? It certainly isn't broken. I am at a very happy and content place in my life. I can have anything I want but not everything I want (and really, my needs are pretty minimal). I need my perspective changed, my horizons expanded, my life enriched even more. Can you do that?
I'm a thirty-something guy living in the valley who loves what he does both for a living and for fun.
I frequently offer up my house to the small god of parties- invite becostumed and bedeviling revelers to languidly lay and drink deeply of all the hospitality that I and my home have to offer. Being around happy and creative and *interesting* people is perhaps my life's greatest pleasure. If you are one of those people- we should talk. :)
Message me- I make a stiff drink, a fantastic dessert, and may even help you move. I clean up nice. Then again, shouldn't every boy?
I'm a scientist. A Burner. A Singer. A Geek. And I'm a helper. ;)
Who I'd like to meet: Human Beings. More specifically- interesting, passionate, fun, slightly crazy, fun people.
As for dating- I don't know that I am looking. I don't know that I am *not* looking. We can always come up with a litany of criteria for potential LTR material, but how often to we pay attention to that? Probably not as often as we should. I suppose what I should say here is that as far as LTR material goes- I would love to meet someone who had a similar laid-back, wacky sense of humor as well as someone who had their proverbial $hit together. You know where you are, where you are going, what you want to do, and can take care of yourself. Or at the very least be well along your way to that end. And you must speak Geek. :)
You should come out for one of our bad movie nights sometime, I know it's a bit of a drive for you but maybe sometime you'll be really bored and think hey I can do that this time. (I know I bail on Scifi Fridays all the time, but really I'm a horrid bitch after a week at work so you really don't want to see me then.)
Give me a call if ever you do want to come out one Saturday night so I can give you the address and the gate code. I think you'd like my odd ball group of pals.
PS - I'm thinking of Firestar for your birthday party this year, like it? (oh yeah I lost a bit of weight too so the spandex will look good)

So, this Friday we are going to a party at our pals comic book store. There's live music (one band has a song called Smurfs! it's awesome) and we would love it if you could come up and party with us. What'd ya say?
