We have Brice this month in our monthly spotlight.
Brice, how did you got started playing music? My brother Cass and our friend Barry both played inst. they needed a drummer so I just started playing. I played drums for about 10 yrs. and then I switched to playing guitar for our band.
What makes a great song to you?Something real. Something that is alive, that is born from hurt, joy, etc. It does not matter the mix or the sound. That is what makes a great song.
Whats your philosophy on writing with LOR? To capture emotion. We have all been together since we were kids, so there can be pure honesty and openness when we write. We do not have to hold anything back. We have nothing to prove, and the one thing I have learned is you cannot write a song to please anyone. It has to be written in a place that only could come from you.
What asset do you think you bring to LOR as an individual? That is a hard question for me to answer. All I know is music breathes inside of me, and I am finally learning how to move out of the way and let the song take me to where it should go instead of my mind.
Where do you hope to see LOR in 3 years? Still doing what we do playing, writing, recording, and finding new fans along the way.
Whats your favorite song on the Days away from life record? All the words
Whats your favorite lyric on the album? Somewhere in between, “All that I thought was right was just thirteen shades of light”

Strong melodies being birthed from heartfelt music, and a melodic pulse keeping you longing for more, is just the beginning of what LIFE OF RILEY is bringing to the table of new rock. Traveling over 250,000 miles in touring extensively over the last 5 years, LIFE OF RILEY has traveled a long road that has included a few detours, which helped them hone and sharpen their vibrant sound.
LIFE OF RILEY's roots are brothers Cassidy & Brice Campbell. They have toured clubs and large Youth events throughout the Midwest, Southwest and Northern California for years. In 2003, they traveled from their Houston, TX home to the famous Ardent Studios in Memphis, TN, and began production on an album independently, with engineer Skidd Mills, (Gin Blossoms, Sister Hazel, and Skillet). As they worked together, the trio bonded. The three formed a production company, which found great success in producing a top 10 R&R Christian rock hit, "Rescue Me" (2003), from the band Inhabited. They followed that up with the Modern Day John single, "Autumn" (2004), which reached Top 15 on R&Rs Christian Rock list. While producing those hits, Brice & Cassidy were still yearning to share their own talent and purpose. In 2006, the brothers feel they now have put all of their best work together in the new release from their own band, LIFE OF RILEY.
The creative alchemy for Houston, TX based LIFE OF RILEY are brothers Cassidy Campbell (lead vocals) and Brice Campbell (guitar/backup vocals); long time friend, Stacey Steele, (guitar/bass/backup vocals), and newest member John Hill (drums). The band begins touring to promote their freshman album, "Days Away From Life" in February 2007.
"Days Away From Life", which holds a variety of musical influences (Switchfoot/Lifehouse meets Chevelle), is set to be released August 22nd, 2006. LIFE OF RILEY's first CD is making its way to the public with support of Missouri based independent label, KikStart Records, through Alliant Music Group/KOCH Entertainment. The label was founded by noted music industry veteran Paul Andris.
The songs "Somewhere In Between" & "When We Were Young" have both been added to Yahoo! Launchcast radio on multiple channels and to Yahoo's Push Music Recommendation service; AOL radio's New Rock Now is supporting "Somewhere In Between and "When We Were Young" with 37 spins per week. The song "When We Were Young" is slated for a major push prior to Street date, and has been selected for Clear Channel's New Artist Development series starting June 6th September 6th. MTVs Online Radio Rock channel added "When We Were Young" July 5th. Sirius & XM Satellite Radio are also supporting LOR early. "When We Were Young" impacts Alternative radio on August 1st. Cassidy shares, "We're looking to birth songs from our soul that reach beyond the boundaries of greatness, reaches out to our fans, creating one moment to breathe, to feel, to experience, not just our band - but our journey.
LIFE OF RILEY continues on their long road - with great anticipation for the mystery known as tomorrow - through all the experiences life throws their way, they remind us that we are all........ Days Away From Life.

Hey guys!! Rocking show this last Saturday night!! It was well worth the 3 hour drive from Temple with my family and I appreciate John sticking his neck out to get my kids in the show.
