About me: I have been working with animals and dogs for over 15 years. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Biology with an emphasis in Animal Behavior from the University of Colorado. In addition, I have completed graduate coursework in Psychology and Counseling with thesis work on the human/animal bond. I am also a proud member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and the International Institute for Applied Companion Animal Behavior.
I have been involved in animal behavior modification and enrichment since 1996, when I worked as part of team to monitor behavior and create enrichment programs for lesser primates and small mammals at the Pueblo Zoo.
Since then, I have focused all my time and continuing education on the companion animal field. I have experience as a vet tech, zoo keeper, pet-sitter, dog walker, dog trainer, behavior modification counselor, dog daycare owner and veterinary supply representative. I have completed apprentice work with three different trainers; gaining knowledge and experience in several methods of training. In the most recent past, I owned my own business in Oregon, which specialized in creating happy well-adjusted canine companions for 8 years.
In addition to owning Life with Fido, I am also the behaviorist/trainer on staff at
Hartwood Animal Hospital, and an AKC Canine Good Citizen Approved Evaluator. I currently share my life with 4 dogs; Cody, Rutger, Harold, and Grace.
