Formed in 2002 the nucleus of lightning jack has remained the same since it's conception. Comprised of welsh bluesman [professor] Lester Lloyd-Reason, aging rocker Phil Utting-Brown, Cliff Ward - a singer/songwriter in his own right and Ian Turner who recently worked with Peter Green of Fleetwood Mac!
Lightning Jack perform a great set of original works and covers. They create a great, lively, fun and exciting atmosphere everywhere they go!!
Lightning Jack have performed extensively across the east of England working the pub and festival scene. In 2008 Lightning Jack performed main stage at Ely Folk festival and headlined the Friday night slot in the club tent at Cambridge Folk Festival.
Lightning Jack have also had good coverage on local radio stations including BBC radio Cambridge and 209FM.
"This Cambridge group has musical roots in the work of lowell george, the waterboys, the levellers, bruce springsteen and led zeppelin. So what we had on a Sunday afternoon was an immediate party. Having a similar effect to Dead Like Harry yesterday this was inspired billing and a much appreciated wake up call." - Spiralearth.co.uk, Ely Folk Festival 2008.
“Lightning Jack defy any kind of labeling. They are very much a band of diverse individuals…The total sum is pure unadulterated fun!” - Robin Mansfield Cambridge Folk Club.
