Dirty PsychoDeltaBluesPunk recorded in a garage on analog recording equipment with a couple of drunks backing me up
"Lightnin’ Woodcock is filthy, sinful rock and roll that is driven by unbridled recreational fornication and most certainly enjoyed by Satan and his evil followers.
As if rock and roll weren’t evil enough on its own, Woodcock has been defecated upon by the drug-fuelled underworld of (shudder) blues and punk rock. The best advice for the pure of heart and soul would be keep your saintly distance from this devilish scourge and his ilk. His outlandish foot-long mutton chop/beards are obviously adornments of the underworld and a sign to steer clear of his influence. If you accidentally let Lightnin’ Woodcock’s fast, ruckus and admittedly catchy licks invade your precious ears, for God’s sake see your local priest for confessional right away to avoid being snatched away from this world by the devil himself.
However, if you are a blue blooded American greaser that lives off of alcohol, rock and roll and nasty premarital fornication, then Lightnin’ Woodcock is right up your dark back alley. I was lucky enough to catch these guys at Thee Parkside in San Francisco last week, and holy freaking Jesus those cats know how to play. I had never heard Lightnin’ Woodcock before—and truthfully I was there for the Throw Rag-related side projects—so I was completely taken by surprise when Woodcock started shredding the hell out of the place. I am not a music writer and I don’t want drone on about how kick-ass this band is all day, so just go check out the tracks on his Myspace page your damn self. And if they ever come to your town, be sure to catch them live, that is, unless you still have a soul to lose."
-Owen Ray, SF Classic Cars Examiner
"Lightin’ Woodcock is not only one of the fastest guitar players I’ve ever seen; he combines melody with speed to an extreme where one is blended into another. "
-Sly, Subculture Collective
"Always over the top...one of the most charismatic front men in LA right now"
-JD in the Streets, All Access Magazine
"My personal opinion is that this guy is something special. If you like old skool blues and psychobilly you will fuckin' love Lightnin' Woodcock."
-Cass, Psychobilly Planet
"The big sky of Texas must arch over to California where this band is from...definitely gritty"
-Anna Purdy, Times of Acadiana
Lightnin' Woodcock brings electrified psycho-delta blues-punk into yer earhole, playing hard music for hard people during hard times. Having previously played guitar with Sun Trash, Miss Derringer, Bourbon Saints, and Foreign Object (among many others), Lightnin' Woodcock is an eponymous big-ego solo band in which he plays his twisted vision of the blues. Following in the footsteps of the great Los Angeles blues masters and the Mississippi Delta Forefathers, Lightnin' Woodcock is a modern day bluesy punk rock minstrel, traveling town-to-town to bring the Gospel of the Electric Church to a godless bar near you.
Though the lyrics may be unmannerly and humorous, the music is authentic and heartfelt, with lightning fast licks and gimmicky tricks in the mix. Woodcock is hell-bent on spreading his message of surviving hard times through funnilingus, fellatio and fornication throughout the U.S., Europe and the Universe.
Every morning, every night, sometimes in the middle of the day... Escaping into dark, quiet corners to relieve myself Sometimes calmly, sometimes furiously... shamelessly Three times again today, is no surprise Laughing every time... seeing what I'd do to satisfy I want to take you up on all your offers... let you try Fulfill all the scintillating needs inside Heavenly wings and spitfire tongues taste like lullabies!
