LIGHT OF DAY BENEFIT CONCERT
RAISES OVER $10,000 FOR PARKINSON'S DISEASE
On November 14, 2008 the 2nd Annual Light of Day Niagara Benefit Concert for Parkinson's victims was held at the Greg Frewin Theatre. The 3 hour event was a great success and raised over $10,000 for Parkinson's Canada and for the Light of Day Foundation supporting Parkinson's Research.
The evening began with the Songwriter's Circle that included Grammy Award winner Joe Grushecky, critically acclaimed singer/songwriter Willie Nile, Juno Award winner and singer/songwriter Dean McTaggart, as well as New Jersey rock and roller and organizer of the Light of Day concerts, Joe D'Urso! After a brief intermission, the stage was transformed into a full concert stage for the likes of The Maddhatters, Townline (formerly Oliver Black), Rick Rose, Joe Grushecky, Joe D'Urso and Willie Nile. Even Beauty and the Beast organizer, Linus Hand, made a guest vocal appearance! The show finale included Astrid Young, Townline, Stan Drobnich, Willie Nile, Joe Grushecky, and Joe D'Urso all playing with the Light of Day House Band, The Maddhatters in an all-star jam with all artists performing Bruce Springsteen's "Light of Day".
With over 450 people in attendance, it was a great night of music for a great cause. The show will return in November of 2009 with more surprises.
Thank you to all those who attended, to all of the sponsors, the contributors, to the Light of Day Committee and volunteers, all of the artists, and to Joe D'Urso for his guidance and mentorship! |
