Here's what ORGAN ZINE had to say about Issue 1 of Lights Go Out!
ZINE: LIGHTS GO OUT 1 – How good is it to have a real proper old school zine drop through the door, flyers falling out of the envelope (were the stamps soaped? Didn’t check). There was a time when we couldn’t go to a gig without someone selling us a zine (or trading one), there was a time when zines like this would be a daily event – the lifeblood of a real alternative underground and we need more of them. (Nice to see a George Tabb flyer in the package). Classic old school cut ‘n paste hand made punk zine – little hard on the eyes, typo mistakes that are always there however much you check before you hit the photocopier. The obligatory column section, CD and live reviews, opinionated rants, personal thought, DIY punk rock goodness. Interviews with Jim from Pennywise, The Griswalds, North Lincoln, Peng, Sarah Jane Honeywell... The web is all well and good, great for those instant links and constant updates, but we still need printed DIY zines and there’s nothing quite like reading a proper one (like this) on the train home from a gig is there? Lights Go Out is a classic messy A5 punk zine, nothing that different, nothing massively radical but so so positively good to see and yes, a fine and recommended read. Go to www.myspace.com/lightsgooutpunkzine and find out more there...

Here's what Big Cheese Magazine had to say about Issue 4 of Lights Go Out in their September 2009 issue!
Lights Go Out zine hails from Newbury and is quite the achievement by it’s contributors. Opening the zine you might feel tempted to put it back down as the font is smaller than most and there is very rarely any graphics or pictures. However, the content is worth bringing out the magnifying glass. Issue 4 includes interviews with Strike Anywhere, Kid Carpet, Just Panic and more. Paired with gig reviews, CD reviews the zine is packed with music. What can be a bit hit or miss is the “words from the wise” section – a section of columns written by various contributors. Some are interesting enough, but others come off as rather self-indulgent. None are that long so you’ll never feel as though you’ve wasted too much time.
4 stars.
We'll fucking take that! Not bad at all, cheers!
Sounds LikeWell more reads like.........a typical zine of course. We hope we have something for everyone to read and enjoy. Please pick up a copy of our debut issue and support this venture. As you may or may not be aware SoundARC hold a charity gig every year at Club 85 in Hitchin in aid of the Garden House Hospice in Letchworth, and this year we are going to try something a little different from previous years.

This year we are going to take over the club and host 37 acts in one weekend putting full bands upstairs and acoustic acts downstairs in an event that we are calling ARCfest!

It all starts on Friday 4th December at 7pm and then continues on through Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th from 12pm-11pm

As well as raising money for the Garden House Hospice in Letchworth, ARCfest will showcase all the different genres of bands that we at SoundARC have come across over the last 4 and a half years. Over this weekend a lot of the acts that you will see don’t get a chance to play a great local venue like Club 85, So as well as hearing new music you will see all manors of genres and styles from acoustic - Metal - Indie - Rock - Punk - Electro - Ska - Funk - Hip Hop/Rap - Alternative - Rhythm & Blues - Reggae - Grunge and loads more that I cant remember!
