About me:
Light skateboards was founded in the Netherlands by a group of
dedicated skateboarders and friends. The Netherlands was lacking a
local skateboard company and Geoffrey Griffith and Gijs Ravensteijn
had been thinking about setup a own company. This company should
represent street skateboarding and is partly inspired by the
development of that in the early- and mid-nineties.
Geoffrey came up with the name Light which symbolizes the light
footedness on a board that most skaters strive for. Short after
Maarten Stapel, Rogier Hulst and Etienne van Valen joined as partners
and Light came to life. Light is financed by friends and that's how we
concider ourselves; a friends company. We have skated over a decade
and some of us over two and together we have a lot experience in the
skateboard industry.
So far we have been received with great enthusiasm in the Netherlands
and we have a network that stretches into many European cities. Our
ambition is to have a strong prescence in the European market and to
be international instead of Dutch, however that will remain where our
roots are from. We also have our eyes set on Japan and Brasil, but
ofcourse first things first.
With all our product we strive for the highest quality. Our deck
supplier has over 30 years experience in the industry and delivers the
highest quality boards. The same we already achieved for our clothing
supplier.
