About me:
The premise of LightsOut Akron is to bring energy conservation awareness to the community by asking people and businesses to pledge to turn out essential lights for one hour on that night. In turn, this will make us all more aware of the energy-usage decisions we make on a daily basis.
This is an expansion of LightsOut San Francisco http://www.lightsoutsf.org/ which took place on October 20, 2007 and Lights Out America http://www.lightsoutamerica.org/ on March 29, 2008.
There is positive change happening in city and beyond, but greater awareness and involvement is still needed.
What we’d like to do with this is encourage LightsOut neighborhood parties; have a light bulb exchange (a compact fluorescent bulb for a regular incandescent bulb); obtain media exposure prior to, during and after; etc. There are a multitude of possibilities and I need your help to plan and organize, make initial and follow up contacts with media, potential sponsors, web site design and maintenance…..
