Lights Out Vegas. Just imagine if the city that begs you to indulge in your own personal vices had the lights go out. Could the powers that be control the chaos? Now take a listen to Big Slick, the debut album from Lights Out Vegas. With a taste of Motley Crue, a dash of sexual tension from AC/DC, a slap in the face of some double bass drums like Slipknot, and fresh pop-rock vocals mixed with emotional screams… you are dared by every track on the disc to put this band in a direct genre.
Showing off their sound on the cold and bland Chicago music scene gained them interest from Indie label Thin Line Records, and the band inked their first record deal, sending Lights Out Vegas into the studio to lay down the full length effort with producer/ engineer Shea Villwock in January, 2009. Two weeks into recording, the first single, “Danger (One Night Stand)”, immediately went to the emerging fan base via MySpace and to Chicago’s Alternative powerhouse Q101.1, where fans blew up the stations phone lines requesting the song. A week later “LOV” played the sold out Hard Rock Café Chicago in direct support for Framing Hanley, and then went back into the studio to finish the much anticipated album. The band emerged as the snows subsided in April, and late May sent them on their first headlining tour…12 states in 18 days, and performing live acoustic sets at every Hot Topic location, in every mall along the way! A fan base sprung up throughout the country, and ranges from 14 year old girls who have fallen in love with tracks like “Good Time Girl” to 30 year old males that can’t stop pounding out the alt-metal tones of “Dead Snowman”.
Lights Out Vegas is a band that lives to be on tour, rocking a foreign stage every chance they can. Their live set is exactly what would happen if the lights went out in Las Vegas…chaos. Ripping guitar solos with a can of Zippo fluid, jumping off of drum risers, and getting down deep into the heart of the crowd are staples of a LOV show. Chicago landmark venues such as Metro, House of Blues, Double Door, and The Pearl Room have asked the band to take over their stages, and venues such as The Rave in Milwaukee, WI, and 1st Ave. Live in Cedar Rapids, IA have invited LOV to shred for new fans while opening for established national recording artists like Taproot, Nonpoint, The White Tie Affair, Hurt, Midnight to 12, and Saliva.
With constant touring, and increased mainstream radio airplay, Lights Out Vegas is creating a national buzz as the next “Big Slick” in the music business. Just like the city in their namesake… Lights Out Vegas offers to indulge you in nothing but pure sin for your ears.
