Lightspeed Future Lullaby is me, David Griffiths. Now based in Bristol, the "band" started in London and has so far released an album "The Spirit of Pop" on Secret Agent records, two singles "Me and Jerry D" and "Isco Non-stop" on Octave Kitten and Mira records respectively and various tracks on various compilations. Previous bands include Endless Bob Brown (West Midlands), Super 8 (Birmingham), Piano Magic (London) and the Visitors (Exeter) the latter two of which have released a fair bit too. Inluences are many and varied but Animal Collective, Wire, the Beach Boys, Boards of Canada, Ammon Contact, Sudden Sway, Associates, Plone, Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Kraftwerk, Ennio Morricone, Richie Hawtin, Jaga Jazist, minimal house music and old detroit techno particularly get the juices going. I also get inspiration from old library music, sound effects lps, suzuki omnichords, analogue synths.
Just to let you know about an extra-special New Root gig on Saturday 31st May @ The Croft, Bristol.
We're doing a headline set featuring Visual Projections from VJ James Bragg and everyone gets a FREE copy of our new 'Sick of Me' EP on the door. Venue Magazine described it as '...an extraordinary sound...a sort of power pop/goth/rock opera hybrid...the most exhilarating thing we've heard all week'.
There also support from Sally-Anne Langton - 'one of Bristol's most promising singer/songwriters' - plus Special Guests. All for £5. You can buy tickets in advance from www. thenewroot. com
Thanks and hopefully see you there on Sat 31st May!
Hi there hope you're well. Have been in California for a couple of weeks and had a fab time. No mellotron on Forest Fire but there is my old 80's Casio on it and bits of feedback?
Nanoloop is fantastique! So glad to hear some new? stuff up on your space.
I love, what sounds like smaples and cut ups spliced etc, you and Bryn were alwyas champions at doing that, which gets me to thinking, where are Childhoods End on Myspace!?
Hi Dave
Eerie is my Sunday morning soundtrack, all of a sudden in am on a shoot for a 1975 film, in the country, there goes a Triumph Stag!
Cheers Spence
Ive got bagpipes drifting in my window from the weeding going on outside.
Im not sure it compliments your music.
In fact now that it has stopped I can strongly advise that you never include bagpipes in Morning Mate. Cracking tune. Strong wafts of Isan here. VV good!
Talking of mates. You have Blue Sonic Boy in your top erm 16. He is coolio, top of the pops, the man and no mistaking!
Loving your stylee.
Sorry it took an age to get back to you but rather than click click away and accept all and sundry I like to browse around someone space and find out a bit about them. Reep the fruits of their labour so to speak. Getting aquinted!
Fucking pipes. They dont go with You and Me either.
The vocals sit really well here. Like the voice.
Ive brought out a DIY album. You can here 30 clips of each of the tracks on my website www.thelavaexperiments.co.uk if you like it and you feel the necessity to be £5 lighter take the plunge. Dont feel obliged though. (Either that or you could trade me for some of your fine fine sounds.)
How did you up your friends from 8 to 16?
Thanks for your tunes a fine way to spend lunchtime.
Let me know when you post new stuff.
X
Thank you kindly. Ressurecting a couple of those songs for the CD we're now recording; The Night is Full of Stars (with real banjo this time) and...yes, you guessed it..we'll be having a shot at Soundblaster. Again.
thanks for those extremly kind words , and thanks for joining the Lama family. im really greatful.
norway is a really great country for music , except when you have to make a living out of it , wich is pretty much impossible. hehe. but jeah , some magical music comes out of norway now a days.
Its Tuesday morning, not quite sunny, however its nice and bright. My twin girls are asleep. Jackie is on my iTunes, flowing along quite gently. The sounds of Dr G all around, 20 years on from I like so many things and I still like so manythings...a morning for reflection indeed! All is well with the world, well my world anyway. Cheers Dave.
i like your approach and your choice in sound, i have a similiar feel to my music but in a different style.thanks for the friendship and i hope you can relax to the mellow vibes of afewdayslate....louis
Cheers Dave! EBB posters are SMASHING! I remember them fondly, ah, I was such a fan! You should o been huge, mind you, at least you made some fantastic music together, sometimes that's just enough innit!? Keep up the good work fella! Spence
Now I've got broadband set-up at home and routed through me best speakers had my first proper hi fidelity listen of the tracks on your page last night. Just wanted to say how lovely those first two tracks are - very moving. Nice to hear those Endless Bob vocals again.
