Pourquoi L'ignorance?

Pourquoi Meaning is Dead?

euuuh, t'es sur que tu as lu tout ca et tu demandes cette question?

Who I'd like to meet:

I dont like to meet any person in particular. Most of the people that attract me are already dead, but I'd probably take out Hans Kung. I love to be in some of the cultural cafes or the literary salons; i'd like to take part in group discussions. I also like to meet some of the contemporary authors I read, Milan Kundera, Umberto Eco, but it's not something I absolutely have to do. It would be just cool to do.
Umberto Eco

Milan Kundera
All in all I'm not crazy by celebrities or cultural icons, or even the so-called great minds. I understand that some people do things better than others do them, but I also know that they do these things, often, at the expense of other things as well. The only exception I take out of celebrity figures is the Goddess Daria Werbowy.

Just in the last year I have had the rug basically pulled out from beneath me.... and I think I was the one doing the pulling. Everything I think and feel and believe has been disproved, and I am sort of floating. It's really a very horrible thing.

These are the things that have influence me, or that I don't get tired from reading because they amuse me, or because I keep learning something from them. I wish I can take all those with me, when I leave this incorruptible country, but I doubt it.(bike?). I will keep adding to this list, here or on my blogs. I used to frequently write blogs, but I haven't in a while; I'm going to do it again now.

    Clockwise (bottom left)
Emilie Nasrallah Touyour Ayloul (Birds of September), Jean Genet Le Balcon, Simenon Le Tout Maigret Volume 1, Zola Pot Bouille, Kafka Le Chateau, Balzac La Recherche de l'Absolu, Jean Guitton Dieu et la Science, Kundera L'Ignorance, Sartre La Nausee, Camus L'Etranger, Hans Kung Etre Chretien, ipod Nano, Bike, Fisk The Great War for Civilization, Martin Luther Christian Liberty, The Communist Manifesto, Gaston, Asterix, Tintin, Le Geant (unpublished anymore).

I don't like to focus on one thing. Some weeks I'm immersed in books, others I'm just watching stupid chick-series. But it's safe to say I love to read, and to listen to music. Almost everything I experience evolves with me, I have some stable preferences, but even those, I wonder how long they'll remain my favorites.
I reveal everything on this page anyways.

I love to drink coffee, but I hate having it "seda" meaning without some additions; either an ipod or a book. I can say I'm taking pics now, as my updated photos section shows. I am learning to enjoy this more than to compete in it, as I understand that I am not made for shooting, but at least I can try to see things the way I want to see them.

I'm catching up on current things now. That's a bit new with me. I grew up on encyclopedias and reading 19th century lit books at the recent. As I do this I find myself opening up more to the "left" side of society. This is another thing that I thought would never change with me, but it did. I used to think I'll be forever an extreme rightist...

I do believe that modern society estranges us. I think that if we don't force ourselves to work for something higher, whether we see it or we don't, something that drains us of our energy and conquers our time, that we will end up, if not destroyed, at least marginalized.

Being out when its raining or when the nature is alive with clouds and wind and preparing for a storm is a joy for me. I love the real autumn days in Lebanon but we don't have a true fall season.

I'm now reading The Great War for Civilization; It's a must for every Lebanese, and I think I've posted a lot of blogs related to it. It shocks me, it still shocks me, the cruelty of the opressor when faced with minorities, or dissidents. In some paragraphs, it reminds me a bit of Daniel Jonah Goldhagen's Hitler's Willing Executionners.

Currently reading, , Le diable et le bon Dieu, par Sartre, Etre Chretien par Hans Kung
Ambitious reads, A la recherche du temps perdu, par Proust, Les fruits d'or, par Sarraute, Jesus, par Guitton.
Never thought I'd finish, Moby Dick, par Melville.
To be read, L'insoutenable legerte de l'etre, par Kundera.
I want to explore contemporary literature more. All my life I refused to read anything past 19th century. I finished Jean Genet which I liked, I once read Le Marin de Gibraltar par Duras, and I didn't like it at all, but if I read it now I'm sure I will appreciate it more. I want to read Alain Robbe Grillet! I must no? But the edition of his books is so expensive! I also have some books on Naturalisme et Realisme and an overview of the history of the novel. But these will have to wait. The Good Authors, Camus, Kundera, Maugham, Proust, Collins, Melville, Wilde, Orwell, Balzac, Zola, Flaubert, Baudelaire, Sarraute, James, Woolf, Les Goncourt, Eliott, Christie, Simenon, Verne.
Favorite Poems, The prisoner of Chillon, The Sea, par Byron, The deserted village, par Goldsmith, Sonnet 116, par Shakespeare
  • Heroes

Strike Heroes! They keep asking about heroes on mysapce, and almost everywhere. Americans love this notion; actors & actresses are heroes, vilains are anti-heroes, ppl must have heroes, they must meet them as well, there are war heroes, firefighters became heroes, ordinary ppl, if they're lucky, get to be heroes for 15 minutes, and its a natural consequence that myspace wants to link ppl with others, according to their common hero/es. I don't have heroes; some influence me in ways, and others do in others. I'm now more impressed in the ordinary man, who has the patience and the resourcefulness to survive and survive well.
