We are John Lilburne's Regiment of Foote of the Sealed Knot Society. We focus on re-enacting battles of the English Civil War (1642 - 1653) and having lots of fun along the way.
Our regiment is named after the leader of a 17th century group who were known as the Levellers and who believed, amongst other things, in religious freedom for all men and a levelling of the social classes (major stuff eh?).
The present day regiment consists of men and women of all ages and from a wide variety of backgrounds. Many of our members live in Yorkshire, Lancashire, Wales and the Midlands, but we have members from all over the UK. We are currently recruiting throughout the country and particularly in the York, Harrogate, Leeds, Bradford, Halifax, Huddersfield and Keighley areas.

The two major roles are as Pikemen or Musketeers. Muskets are guns that are loaded with gunpowder down the barrel. Pikes are 18 foot long pole which are taken into a rugby scrum type engagement in an attempt to focibly push the 'enemy' away. I hasten to add that we do not actually put shot down our barrels nor do we in any way attempt to hurt the opposition, in reality were all great mates both with the Royalist and Parliamentarian troops!
We also have several cannon in our regiment and crew who man them plus a strong living history group where 17th century crafts are demonstrated to the public; things like weaving sewing, woodwork, leatherwork, cooking and games take place here.
Who I'd like to meet: We are always looking for new members for the regiment, friends and generally just enjoy chatting to people who are intrested in what we do and love. If you're interested or would like to know more please send us a message or an email to myspace@lilburnes.com

Hey, Ackworth wasnt too bad, it had a pretty big turnout for the locals. Because, if they havent ever seen this before, and its just a little town, then the amount of people was ok.
btw, for the song what about 1643 by Seth Lakeman? lol, but K&C is still very good.
