What Are Your Top 10 Ideas for Change in America?

The Ideas for Change in America competition was created in response to Barack Obama's call for increased citizen involvement in government. The final round of voting began on January 5.

The top 10 rated ideas from the final round will be presented to the Obama administration on January 16th at an event at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. At that event they will also announce the launch of a national advocacy campaign behind each of the top 10 ideas in collaboration with nonprofit partners to turn each idea into an actual policy.

WELL GUESS WHAT????????? THE DREAM ACT IS IN 15th PLACE!!!

It only takes a minute of your precious time to sign up and vote in favor of THE DREAM ACT. Just for a moment think about all those undocumented students that depend on THE DREAM ACT to come out of the shadows. I'm sure they will be forever grateful.

THE VOTING ENDS AT 5pm ET on Thursday, January 15th! WE ONLY HAVE 7 MORE DAYS LEFT!
PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD AND START VOTING!!!

FIGHTING TERRORISM SINCE 1492

Jul 26 2008 6:08 PM

"Sunday July 27th is a 1 year anniversary of the Minutemen's protest against Liliana when she was taking sanctuary at church in Long Beach. For whatever reason, they have chosen this 1 year anniversary (of their completely demoralizing protest a year ago) to come back again, but this time in full force, with all of the scattered branches of racists organizations (including the NAZI's who came last time) all putting aside their grudges to come protest Liliana in one mass day.

For this reason, myself and some friends of Liliana are asking for support of Liliana on this day. The church DOES NOT WANT protest, at all, at this point, and unless they come to a different agreement, it would be very unproductive for people to come to protest the minutemen and be yelled at by the minutemen while also be greeted unwelcoming by the church.

However, people can show up to observe and participate INSIDE the church during their services which is the time frame that the minutemen, save our state, and their other fragments are all planning to come out.

When: Sunday, July 27th
Time: 10am until 1pm
Address: 370 Royal Ave., Simi Valley, CA 93065
Church: http://www. uccsimi. org/home. asp

Those of us asking for your support are asking mostly to demonstrate solidarity w/ Liliana and help keep the spirit strong rather than demoralizing. The church that Liliana has been with in Simi Valley [United Church of Christ] has courageously taken her in where so many others have turned away, and tremendous respect ought to be given for their love, effort, funds and energy to moving the sanctuary movement forward and protecting Liliana and her family for this last year.

Please spread da word:

Friends,

Perhaps some of you have already gotten word about the latest scandal:

Mayor Paul Miller of Simi Valley has informed the press that he will be charging UCC Simi Valley, the host congregation for Liliana and her 6 month old child Pablito, about $40,000 for the protest that Save Our State organized this past Sunday. *Please read the article below for additional information.

It is crucial that we have people respond to this outrageous act. Please check the script below, and use it to contact the mayor (via phone or email).

We need to show Mayor Paul Miller that there are plenty of people that are NOT against UCC Simi and their prophetic stand in giving sanctuary to Liliana and her family.

Here's the script:

Mayor Miller,

We are calling in support of the United Church of Christ of Simi Valley. We ask you to respect the sanctity of the church by respecting their call to show compassion to all people. We do not want you to interfere with the mission and ministry of the church.

Church to be billed for costs of protest: Simi wants $40,000 for police presence at event

By Anna Bakalis
Wednesday, September 19, 2007

Rob Varela / Star staff Simi police officers monitor the protest at the United Church of Christ on Sunday. The church, targeted for housing an illegal immigrant, will be billed for police services.

By the end of the week, a Simi Valley church will be billed almost $40,000 for police presence during a weekend protest against the church's sheltering of an illegal immigrant.

The city of Simi Valley is sending a $39,306 invoice to the United Church of Christ for costs incurred for police services at the protest.

The Sunday protest brought out about 125 anti-illegal immigration activists and counterprotesters. Simi officials said that
