Lilian Hak creates electronic music with her use of both conventional instruments, her voice, keyboards and a laptop, combining visuals whenever possible. Lilian writes/produces all her own music and plays almost all of the instruments.
Towards the end of 2004 she released a limited edition album "Silence Feels Safe", which was then picked up and distributed through the majority Dutch independent record shop chains, while several songs on that album also received national airplay.
In 2005, Ann Demeulemeester, a fashion designer from Antwerp, used one track from Lilian..s debut CD during her fashion show in Paris for the men's spring wear collection 2006.
During 2005 she also performed live on Dutch national radio shows (3voor12/VPRO and radio Kink FM), supported "The Kills" (GB) at various venues in Holland, played a live set at the annual Kink FM music awards at the Paradiso and then in June performed three consecutive nights (with a full live band) a series of audiovisual concerts at the Amsterdam Melkweg venue.
Since the summer of 2005 Lilian has been working on her brand new album - "Love's Victory March" which has been released in October 2006 on the Steamin' Soundworks label. This album has been preceded by the single "Faces", along with remixes by Scanner, aka Robin Rimbaud (UK) and Vector Lovers (UK), and KaH.
"Faces" including all the remixes is also out on vinyl.
In addition, Lilian has also been creating various instrumental tracks under the alias of KaH, of which the first was included on the recent Kink FM compilation album "X- Rated: The DARK Files", which was released in April 2006 and is distributed by Clearspot (for the Netherlands) and Soleilmoon (international).
Her self-produced and performed album "Love's Victory March" is a moving collection of songs for creative mind. Intriguing, seductive pop songs which produce a perfect balance between experiment and entertainment.
She does not shy away from the electronic sound and uses voice samples, vocals, frantic guitar noises and synthesizers to create her own fantastic unique sound in an avant-garde atmosphere.
On stage Lilian is joined by Michel Scholten (drums) and Frank Burks (guitar/synths).
Their live performance is full of energy with a clever use of electronic and organic sounds.
During the summer of 2006 Lilian appeared on the main stage at the annual Parade Festival (Rotterdam, The Hague, Utrecht & Amsterdam), Festival Etcetera and Montreux Festival. Later on in 2006 they played live on various Dutch radio shows, 3voor12.vpro/StudioDeSmet and NightLiveXS and they did the support for Kashmir (DK).
In 2007 they performed live at various venues and Festivals in NL like Paradiso, 't Paard, Ekko. Festival de Beschaving, Robodock, Festival a/d Werf etc.
In 2007 Lilian Hak started to perform solo on stage. Her live set is with a minimum of gear on stage; a laptop, controller, nord modular synth, mic and some fx.
As a multi-instrumentalist she likes to improvise on stage with the sounds and structures. Her style is difficult to frame and is very surprising.
Expect a nice blend of warm, deep melodic, and dirty, electronic music within she experiments with her sounds. She's got a remarkable presence on stage because she combines her beats with live vocals and keys.
