How many teen-aged Pop/R&B/Dance singers do you know that have ever sung at Carnegie Hall, the Monterey Jazz Festival and as a featured soloist with her high school jazz ensemble at the Lincoln Center Ellington Jazz Competition, as well as guest starred on the worldwide most watched daytime drama (The Bold & The Beautiful – 140 countries, over 135+ million viewers), all in the same year? Well, get ready to meet one.
Whether standing in front of the television (at age 3) or in front of CBS television cameras, or even singing as the designated soloist with her choir, the Los Angeles-based, versatile singer-dancer-actress and 12th grade honor student, has been obsessed with American pop culture at its absolute poppiest – and intends to devote her professional career to creating it.
The words, "genuine no-hype, a real deal prodigy", are frequently used by her mentor and manager, veteran Platinum/Gold award winning producer Samm Brown III (Michael Jackson, Maxine Nightingale), who is helping her hone her skills through continued live performances. They have recently completed a 6 song CD/EP (titled – what else…? "The Prodigy"), with Brown’s production company slated to deliver more songs for label consideration and more network TV shows.
Lil’ Keesha’s first single is a remake of the Donna Summer, Oscar and Grammy Award winning song "Last Dance" written by Paul Jabara, and ably guided by the production of Samm Brown III the remake of the classic 1 pop/disco track is true to the original, but that’s where the similarities between the 2007 version and the 1978 original end.
Lil’ Keesha’s explosive 4 octave range is on full display here and is evident with the opening 2 bar riff that shadows the original but then repeats full out, an octave higher. From there it is a hellacious, fun romp with her vocal pyrotechnics leading the way. The song ends with her incredible voice soaring in a dramatic glissando that keeps going to an octave higher than the Summer original. You’ll be shaking your head. Unbelievable.
Her producer says he cannot overstate the scope of Lil’ Keesha’s "jaw-dropping talents". "Her vocal skills and crystal clear 4-octave range, are very reminiscent to that of other major R&B and pop singers like Mariah Carey, and Cheryl Lynn, while her mid-range reminds me of Whitney Houston and Alicia Keys. She’s the kind of singer a Clive Davis would kill to sign." Even more impressive, says Brown, "Lil’ Keesha’s R&B sensibilities, style and natural ability to interpret a lyric rivals that of singers ten years older, wiser, and have lived much more of life.
She is strong, sassy, bold, classy and without a doubt, a vocal prodigy. The music world is about to know it… and you’ll know it too the moment you see and hear her sing."
