October 7th Firefighter Robin Burton Jenkins was hit and killed by an SUV driver while on his way home. Robin was a member of both COBB M/C and Fire and Iron M/C. The excuse the driver gave was the usual one “I didn’t see him”. The driver was able to beat all charges against him in court and walked away scott free while Robin’s family walked away without Robin, without justice and without a dime. This is becoming a trend with motorcyclists dying on the roads and the people that hit them giving the same excuse over and over again, “I didn’t see him”. With legislature being reviewed now that will put more of a burden on the motorcyclist, we believe it’s time to start better educating the public and the plan is simple. COBB chapter 1, along with other motorcycle groups, is asking everyone who rides to join us Saturday afternoon, May 19th for a hopefully historic ride. The theme being:
"Do You See Me Now"
We will be meeting at three locations and riding to Old Town in Kissimmee. Hopefully with enough bikes there will be no way for anyone to miss us this time. We will be traveling the slowest LEGAL speed limit in one lane to our destination in the hopes of raising awareness of bikers on the road. The registration will begin at 11:00 at the following locations:
Kickstands up and departing at 1:00 pm sharp. This is our chance to make a statement to the general public. The more bikes we have show up and ride the larger that statement will be. Hopefully we will have media coverage of the event. Any bike, any model any group is welcome. If you can, contact someone below and report how many bikes you or your group will have going.
There is a $10.00 registration fee per bike which will be donated three ways. A small portion will go to ABATE of Florida to help with legislative efforts, the remaining sum will be split up with part going to the
