Sounds Like
when you miss a step on your way down a flight of stairs but right before you fall face down, you gain balance and catch your self and pause for a second thinking "poufff...That was close". It's like that all the time.
I did some travelling last year and ended up in Spain for a year... I met so many people that changed my life in more ways than one, most of these songs are about them. The versions here are all first time 'sketches' that I recorded carelessly as demos so that I wouldn't forget the songs and their melodies. At the time I promised myself that I would go back and finish these songs and get them recorded porperly and that hasn't happened yet.....It was only after I came back to canada that I listened to these again after some time and realized that there is a strange quality to all these basic recordings; the sound is shit, the words are half improvised, I fuck up more than once, yet...in spite of all their flaws I have grown to enjoy them because of their sentimental value and what they remind me of, the places I went, the people I saw and loved.....so I hope that you forgive my indulgence and overlook the poor quality. ................................................................................................................
The songs were all composed and played on a thin-neck classical guitar (the small ones that they make for 10 year olds). They were all recorded on my portable music "studio" which was an iTalk mounted on top of my iPod :) Most of these were recorded in various waiting terminals and bus stops around the world, from San Sebastian to London, Tehran, Reykjavic.

Great to hear from you mate! And thanks for listening too....I have a lot of fun recording when I just sit down and record without worrying about mistakes or perfection. I use a zoom h4 recorder and it has been very good to me so far - a nice little 4 track recorder with decent mics and built-in effects. I haven't used it all that much to be honest. Your guitar playing still awes me. Have you been writing/playing/performing? It would be great to see you again soon but distance can do the same for friends as it does for lovers: make the heart grow fonder. with love! Michael
