lil' mo' love steel n' brass band is a NEW and Exciting Group of musicians Playin' Caribbean Beats, Songs, and Melodies with SOLOS drawn from PANORAMA & RAMAJAY Traditions as well as Mad Jazz and Avante Garde stylin's. Most of the players are composers as well as performers. Lil' Mo's music is Rooted in Afro Beats, Caribbean Steelband, Brass n' Soca n' Jazz -- all part of the Carnival Vibe. It is about Mo' Love! It's about Freedom! Dancin' til' ya laugh! and hearnin' a new ting! Fresh!
........The core of the group - La Mantia, Humphrey, Cannon, Bruce & MAB have known and played together for more thana decade and are deeply rooted in Trinidadian / Caribbean Music. They have Performed in either the TRINIDAD National Steelband Panoramas or The T&T Nat. Dance Company. Hugh, Bruce & Cannon were born in T&T, and it seems La Mantia and MAB are just about to get their Trini passports or adoption papers or sumptin'! .........As part of their commitment to the Culture and to Youth these four have worked from 8 to almost 15 years bringing the Culture of the Caribbean to Oaktown's Youth thru the non profit - Steelband Pan Arts www.molove.info -- They teach music, dance and art and then bring out the kids, families, mentors and friends to celebrate life, music, and Dance! SF Carnaval Every Memorial Sunday - Last Weekend in May. Come out with us! It is Mad Fun! lil' mo' love plays live! we dance! we prance! we threw $2000 worth of beads! The crowds went wild! and! we had, as usual, Shaka Zulu, Wild Indian Stiltwalker of New Orleans with us and he was THE PARADE GRAND MARSHALL!!! This year lil' mo' love won 2nd Prize for the World Music Category @ SF Carnaval!!......This gifted core has attracted 3 more fantastic players to group - Toho, reknown bassist in the Reggae scene -- Gene 'boyboy' Baker, Trumpet and Keys - madman composer and performer in endless new music and Gospel settings-- Carolyn Walter, Saxes and Clarinets - also well known on the New music scene -- All comin' together so sweet!
