Lily was born and raised in San Francisco. At 18, Lily joined her first band
performing at local clubs. Shortly thereafter, she joined yet another band
and was soon performing at the Tonga Room at San Francisco's landmark
Fairmont Hotel. Yet another one of her early groups was an R&B/dance band,
Nightshift, which was awarded"Best Bay Area Band."
At this same time, Lily began studying Music at San Francisco State University and eventually earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music. Applying her classical voice training, experience, and natural exuberance to teaching, Lily is also a vocal coach who is extremely proud of her students' many performances and accomplishments.
Through the years, Lily has developed a loyal following performing at a number of Bay Area venues with a number of different groups. In 2007, Lily
co-founded the After Hours Band with Kenny Penalver. Infusing her beloved
Jazz, Brasilian, Broadway, and R&B motifs with her own unique style, Lily and the After Hours Band released their self-titled first CD in 2007.
In December 2007, Lily and her band performed at the 3rd Annual Fil/Am
Jazz Festival at the Catalina Bar and Grill in Los Angeles. In August 2008,
Lily was one of the headliners at the 1st Annual Fil/Am Jazz Festival in San
Francisco. During that month, she was hard at work producing her 2nd CD
with Ken Penalver at the world-famous Pajama Studios in Oakland, CA.
Lily and Kenny had the pleasure of recording with great musicians on this
CD such as Ben Luis on Bass, Raffy Lopez on Guitar, Melecio Magdaluyo on
sax, Mark Foglia on drums and Mio Timbalero Flores on percussions. The
CD entitled "So In Love" also featured guitar soloists Dave Yamasaki, Bob
Basa, Chris Planas, as well as Ross Wilson on trumpet.
In January, 2009, Lily had a CD Release Concert at the Rrazz Room in Hotel Nikko in San Francisco, CA. The show was a complete success having a
sold out performance. Due to popular demand, Lily was asked to return
to the Rrazz Room on Oct. 7, 2009.
Lily is already beginning to work on the next set of songs for her upcoming "Live CD" in the Spring of 2009. Check her website for more information on the CD and performances.
