Writing (doy!), complaining about writing, body art, military affairs, travel, rodeo and the New West, COOP and other alt.artists, yoga, third-wave feminist/alt.sex/queer politics, and shiny objects.
Müzik
I've got total CowPunk taste.
Alternative/Goth/Punk: Felt, Bauhaus, Ramones, Iggy Pop, Single Gun Theory, Social Distortion, old NIN.
Country: George Strait, Chris LeDoux, Patsy Cline, Charlie Robison, Brooks and Dunn (except for that "Play Something Country" sh*t. Jesus!), LeeAnn Womack, Tim McGraw, Shania Twain, Dwight Yoakam, and Gretchen, my sister in spirit.
And I loooooove old school Latin Freestyle. Coro, TKA, Cover Girls, anything on KTU.
Plus: Metallica.
Filmler
"The Lover." "Anchorman." "Juno" (fave line: I'm a sacred vessel. All you got in YOUR stomach is Taco Bell.). "American Splendor." "The Best Years of Our Lives." "True Romance." I walked out of "Superbad" because I got sick of Jonah Hill yelling.
Televizyon
I watch Animal Precinct relentlessly, and will continue to do so until they start the Cute, Wiggly, Needy Puppies in Distress That End Up Happy Channel.
Kitaplar
Books are buggin' me these days, so let me tell you about some modern artists I love: Pamela Wilson, Walter Piehl, Chris Owen, Richard Serra, Jennifer Dalton, Sandow Birk. I don't really care about Blinky Palermo all that much, but I do like his name. Fave museums: Dia Beacon in Beacon, NY, and the Visionary Arts Museum in Baltimore.
Kahramanları
Recovering depressives. Anyone who wears ACUs to work.
Hakkımda: Half-vanilla, half-caramel hipster crunch.
I wrote a book called STRIP CITY: A STRIPPER'S FAREWELL JOURNEY ACROSS AMERICA, and though I have long-since quit dancing, I am a Friend to Dancing Girls Everywhere.
I have a novel set in the RODEO world. It's called TRY. It's dedicated to Chris LeDoux (RIP), but he'd probably have had a heart attack if he'd read the love scenes...
My NEW book is about being an alt.mil.wife. Title: I LOVE A MAN IN UNIFORM. Pretty self-explanatory, I know. We aim for the obvious here. Do I include the meatloaf recipe or not? This is my dilemma. It will be published in April 09 by Weinstein (yes, those Weinsteins) Books.
I'm here for primarily work-related reasons. You can check out www.lilyburana.com for more professional blah blah blah. If you wanna drop me a line here, that's cool, but I am VERY slow to respond. Nothin' personal.
Kimle tanışmak isterim: Grumbly girls, genial apes, artists, art-appreciators, and other tribal-minded folk. People who aim to be decent to other sentient beings, including dogs and kids. Anyone who's ever been in a mosh pit (or thought about it), been picked last for dodgeball, owned a fuzzy vintage leopard coat, hat, or gloves, plus people who have had, or plan to have, strange journeys (interior or exterior), and military spouses in any state or state of mind.
I'd also like to meet other people rocking the Lower Hudson Valley, and I'd like to re-meet some of my old friends (MySpace helps with that, God knows. Is there a crusty punk or brainiac perv or ex-sex worker who's NOT on this site?) and make bunches of new ones. Boredom and isolation are for stupid jerks. I'm tired of being a stupid jerk, man!
tape, pencil brushes, and wonderful blending! haha. I have a youtube channel...that if you have time....I would love you to check out! http://www.youtube.com/luckypiper
