In an industry driven mad with commercialisation and looks, as opposed to raw talent and ability, I guess staying true to yourself is tough and involves a little scheming along the way and a little swhcihhh and shwah. But Im ok, thanks to dear old dad, John, growing up in many different places and seeing all shades of characters, I have an inept ability to bullshit a bullshitter. So I can roll with it. Mind you, Following ones dreams isn't always an easy task, but when you have the right people behind you, you feel you're that much closer to where you want to be.
The people around me inspire me and allow me to create these songs. I may be a dream chaser, but with their help and support I may just become a dream catcher.
(And the bottom line to being great is to turn off when the naysayers arrive and only listen to POSITIVE attitudes!! I believe in Ireland it is called "fucking the begrudgers!!")
The people that matter most are my family & close friends, and equally past aquaintances, as they practically inspire me to do what I do...especially my little Niamhy for strumming the geeetar and for showing me what real songwriting is about....RAINBOWS!!!! that;s all i'll say as you know who ye are...won't say names coz I don't want the paparazzi outside your door, it soo wouldn't be fair on you's ha ha ha ahh ahh, you're all sooo so understanding in my absence...love ye all...god I'm in a nostalgic mood (o:

The world and its elements are my milk. Times that cause us to hurt or be glad of who we are or where we are, enable me to pick up a guitar and be a songwirter, but I can write happy songs too (o:a few harps and guitars..mando cellos and P Diddy's workshop in all its glory...R.I.G man, (Rest In Galway)
Life lead me to guitar when I was 18, but before that came poems which then in turn became songs. I put down my easel and replaced it with more instruments. Then came a wood chisel and a Japanese saw...

Trained in the Construction of Stringed and Renaissance Musical Instruments. This multi-instrumentalist, set the foundations of her musical career and rocketed into critical acclaim within the International Press along with gaining wide spread interest as far as America, in less than a year.
Having trained in a workshop for over 3 years, Coogan learnt the inner psychology of most stringed musical instruments, gaining a deep understanding and appreciation of both her instruments and music as a whole. Assembling & constructing instruments like harps, guitars, mandolins, bass, bouzouki’s, hurdy gurdy’s, cello’s and violin’s.
This sultry songstress has played in Ireland’s top venues and those in between. Sharing the lime light with the likes of Coldplay, U2 and Snow patrol, Linda Coogan’s song “Where I Belong” graced top music channel MTV2 in 2007. Exerting her own place amongst her Irish peers, she has played alongside bands such as Kila, The Pale, Mundy, Jaded Sun, Luan Parle, The Frames, Aslan and many others. Including doing a nationwide tour with Jack L.
Coogan appeared in Ireland's best selling music magazine HOTPRESS as “Pick of the Fortnight“, chosen by none other than music journalist Jackie Hayden – the critic who famously got U2 signed. Then later appeared in the HOTPRESS Annual Magazine as “One of the TOP INDEPENDENT women” and “One to Watch for 2007”.
Gigging nationwide, signing a publishing deal in the US and co-producing a documentary on the Irish Music Scene, Coogan proves herself to be a fine candidate for the modern Independent musician, determined and eager to set the pace and raise the stakes not a little but ALLOT along the way.
Linda Coogan possesses an undeniable originality that exceeds her peer group. Her unique sounding Voice is flexible, wide-ranging, accurate and ageless. She can sing Sultry Ballads, Sweet Jazz and Rock n’ Roll all rolled into one.
Of late Coogan is working with renowned Producer Declan Legge, with a full new line up band in tow, on her latest EP titled “Enjoy” , set to be released in mid 2009 and is eagerly anticipated.

PRESS QUOTES:
Press Quotes:
“Coogan brings echoes of Tanita Tikaram and Tracy Chapman, and adds her own sultry tones to her songs. 'Where I belong' sees her voice taking on a sensual whispery tone that will appeal to your repeat button. 'Black Eyes' moves into a folk-rock territory, with that breathy voice again delivering tonnes of passion and sensuality. Coogan has a head start with her beguiling style and classy songs.”
Jackie Hayden- Linda Coogan pick of the fortnight Hotpress magazine. October 5th 2006
"Singers twice her age would be envious of the smouldering, very sexy voice that Linda possesses. If the right ears get to hear what she has to offer, then who knows what heights she could achieve. Do your ears and senses a favour, check out "Holding Back"...
Roddie Cleere- WLRfm
“Coogan is a fine wine that only gets better and better with age”
“There is a smouldering intensity to Coogan’s writing, understated accompaniments, and oh, so smooth and sultry vocals that speaks of hard won wisdom, and prim passion contained in a pasteboard box. Holding Back is a thirteen-song exegesis of the vagaries of love, sung with a sad smile and an inexplicable optimism. Its on repeat at the moment!”
Mike Parker - Buddy Hollywood
Singer songwriter of the month on www.buddyhollywood.com
"Not only can Linda Coogan play multiple instruments, as a qualified luthier she can also make them. Add to that her ability to sing and write songs and you have the ingredients for quite possibly the perfect musical package. This would be quite an achievement for most people in a life-time but when the person in question is still in their mid-twenties it is especially impressive. "
