   About Lindsay

"Absolutely beautiful...brilliant...her CD came my way by accident and a most fortunate accident it was too!" -Richard Spendlove MBE, BBC Radio Cambridgeshire, talking about My Funny Valentine.

"Her rendition of Summertime was something really special. Not the usual, laidback, languid, lullaby we`ve come to know but a fascinating, tense dialogue between the accompanist, with his urgent ostenuto figure and the soothing reassurance of the vocal line. This was Gershwin revisited and the result was magical". - Peter Luck

"A jazz vocalist of the highest calibre...a true jazz singer, a singer whose contribution to the jazz and to the great standards soon, I hope, will be recognised...without doubt, her interpretation of Softly As In A Morning Sunrise is one of the finest recordings ever done of this song". - Joao da Penha, Jazz & Bossa Nova

Lindsay's career as a singer began during classical training, progressing to an honours degree in drama & theatre arts (where she worked with people such as playwright David Edgar and playwright/director Terry Johnson) with options in music from University of Birmingham. Having subsequently trained as an actor at Guildford School of Acting, she then took on both acting and singing engagements. Although Lindsay's musical interests and experience were originally in musical theatre from an early age (Sondheim in particular), jazz, swing and big band were waiting to take hold and it wasn't long before she moved into this genre. Work with Cambridgeshire-based band Jazzamber followed before she decided to embark upon a solo career as a light jazz singer with her own band. Lindsay's music influences include: Laura Fygi, Stacey Kent, Jane Monheit, Ella Fitzgerald, Barbra Streisand, the Mamas & Papas, and Helen Shapiro, as well as latin jazz, and the music of Louis Jordan.

Musical geniuses who make me sound as if I know what i'm doing (!) include Colin Hazel and Peter Shepherd on keys; Laurence Evans and Jon Halton on double bass; and Derek Scurll and Anna Templer on drums.
