Originally from Missoula, Montana, Lindsey Stormo recently moved to Portland from New York City, where she performed at venues such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center's 'Wordless Music Series,' and John Zorn's modern music venue, 'The Stone.' While in New York City, Lindsey graduated from New School University's Jazz and Contemporary Music Program, with an emphasis in vocal performance and jazz studies. At this time, she also began her career as a lyricist, with a special interest in modern music and free improvisation. Lindsey has written lyrics and collaborated with exciting new composers such as Ayaka Nishina, David Moore, Myk Freedman, and Sam Howard. She has been singing classical, jazz and folk music for sixteen years, and studied theater at Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan.
