Lindy Bingham is an independent Southern California blues artist who has been developing her musical style since her youngest days listening to her parents’ perform live, and later giving up the flute for the more rebellious saxophone (much to the horror of her band teacher at the time). By 17 she was the sax player and youngest member of an original band that gained local notoriety and had radio airplay. She continued growing musically by singing, playing sax, and keyboards with many bands through the years and performing all musical styles from rock-n-roll to jazz. More recently she has recorded and performed with international artist Chris Thompson (Manfred Mann’s Earth Band, SAS Band, Night), appearing on three of his CD releases as backup vocalist and recording saxophone on his single “Farmyard,” and later appearing on the music video for the song as well.
Lindy’s debut CD release “Make Me an Offer,” a collection of original blues and R&B tunes that range from urban and gritty to beautiful and sweet, explores those places where the blues truly exist -- good love, bad love, and everything in between -- and playfully pokes fun at the “valley girl” stereotype that inevitably connects itself to Southern California women with long blonde hair and a charming smile. Her love of traditional rhythm and blues styles is apparent in the horn sections and gospel-like backup vocals behind most of the songs, while her interest in more contemporary styles peeks out in ripping guitar and sax solos and solid rock-n-roll rhythms. While nodding in the direction of many traditional blues styles, Lindy has taken her interpretation of the blues in a decidedly West Coast direction, infusing all into a fun, high-energy, satisfying listening experience.
