About me:
LindyLibrary - aims to be the best online Lindy Hop and Swing resource in the world - has two main goals:
1. We want to help people make their videos available to other people.
Ever wonder where that one person in your scene gets all their videos from? Or wished you had a video of that one crazy dancer who pulls of insane moves? LindyLibrary makes all videos available to everyone, so you can share and learn from them.
To do this, we want to get video into and out of the system in as many ways as we can: from the web, from camcorders and cameras, from the users' home computers and from whatever software they are using to manage their videos. And we want to be able to push them out in as many ways as possible: on the LindyLibrary website, in RSS feeds, by email, by posting to outside blogs or ways we haven't thought of yet.
LindyLibrary is the means that makes it easy to get videos from one person to another in whatever way they want.
2. We want to enable new ways of managing, dispersing, and archiving dance information.
Once you start dancing, it is all too easy to get overwhelmed with the amounts of technique, moves, and history that comes with the dance. Local dance lessons, workshops, and events are great, and we are not trying to replace them. We are trying to complement them and fill in a niche where dance information can be saved and shared. So local dancers will not be restricted to growth allowed by where they live but can get a wider exposure to the national dance scene.
Part of the solution is to make the process of organizing videos and information collaborative. In LindyLibrary, you can give your friends, family, and other contacts permission to organize your videos and data - not just to add comments, but also notes and tags. And as all this info accretes around the videos as metadata, you can find them so much easier later on, since all this info is also searchable.
