Born in Santa Cruz, California, Linnaea grew up with an entire redwood forest as her backyard. An only child-- (Oops, just kidding, Dan!) Ten years younger than her brother and only sibling, she had as her best friends cats and more cats, a fact which may have warped her expectations of fellow humans.
She attended U.C. Santa Cruz where she graduated with a B.A. in (cultural) Anthropology. She moved to Silicon Valley after graduation where she floundered about before being drafted by VirusScan author John McAfee as his first on-site staff person (not counting slave labor graciously donated by one A. Goretsky). Here she learned that a degree in Anthropology led one to a very brief but fascinating career as a computer virus consultant.
Linnaea's next gig was motherhood-- which she would later assert, is the hardest (but most transformative) job there is. Still, her children have recently begun to discover the shocking truth that, even in the early years, she managed to slip out behind their backs with some regularity to share her poetry at open mic sessions, volunteer for various parenting and educational groups, have strange adventures and meet even stranger (but pretty cool) people.
In the midst of raising three children, Linnaea also completed two years of training with the Church of Divine Man (graduating as Associate Minister) and obtained her certificate in Early Childhood Education. She has worked as a spiritual healer and has taught and directed youth spiritual education, preschool, and parent education.
Linnaea is the proprietor and author of Earth's Kids (

), an educational site for parents and children and those dedicated to positively shaping the future. She currently earns her living as a professional writer and educator. In her spare time she designs websites, putters in her garden, and plays at creating anything she can think of. She is a proud supporter and volunteer for the Humane Society of Silicon Valley.
Who I'd like to meet: Fellow writers, alternative moms, dreamy poets, artsy kids...and people trying to make a better future.
I just remembered, "Why can't I be a pony?" was actually the name of one of the panels at furcon (which I didn't go to) and it was about sceptisism around genetics being able to create furries at any point in the future. Darn.
