Liparis Nervosa Sextet was born from the underground soul-jazz and funk scene of Los Angeles in 2006. Their first recording, a 7" release on ALLCITY Recordings (allcityrecordings.com) has rapidly turned heads as it has become a top seller (distributed by Kajmere Sound - ksdmusic.com)
Not only are music fans on the West and East coast listening, but Japan and Europe are in on it as well. The group has quickly created a buzz by performing at local SoCal venues such as Detroit Bar, Blue Cafe, La Cave, The Continental Room. Although Liparis Nervosa is young in existence, its musicians are no strangers to the music. You may have seen the group members performing with ensembles such as Bayalo', The Rebirth, The Breakestra, Nafro, Natural Afrodisac, Starpool, Freakdaddy, Celia Cruz, The Blue Devils Drum & Bugle Corps, Blast!, The Soul Hustler's, The Brian Setzer Orchestra and Joey Sellers' Jazz Aggregation.
From this diversity, Liparis Nervosa's sound can best be described as melting pot of its members influences. They have created a unique sound that mixes soul grooves and break-beats with intelligent instrumental improvisation and vocalization.

"A couple of numbers from LA's Liparis Nervosa Sextet -- a nice little mix of 70s soul jazz era grooving on flute and electric keys, with the raw and funky drum vibe of the modern funk underground! "Prayer" covers some diverse territory in the span of a couple minutes -- with solid drums that thump like a great breakbeat track, sweetly grooving organ and keys, some excellent jazz funk flute and a really great wah wah sound towards the end!
