Liquid Agents is a New York City based collaboration of two unique musical talents that creates a trans-continental blend of deep house, electro and minimal techno. Dedicated to pushing the envelope of underground dance music, Liquid Agents strives to bring a unique mix of harmonic and rhythmic maturity to the genre. Creating tension and release that undulates through its compositions, Liquid Agents combines a strong background in production and engineering with dynamic results.
This collaboration is composed of two veterans of the NYC house music scene — Dr J and DJ Cync. They met in college while pursuing degrees in Jazz Performance, Composition and Audio Engineering. It launched a fifteen year friendship rich in musical experience and night life adventure. During this time the duo were also active in their individual projects.
Dr J (aka Justin Filmer) toured internationally as a bassist with several electronic rock bands, then went on to become the front of the house engineer for acts like The Roots, Marc Anthony, Celia Cruz, and Julio Iglesias mixing shows at Madison Square Garden and other legendary venues. He has also worked as a producer and writer with Latin trip-hop group SiSe and is co-founder of world electronic group JuCa.
DJ Cync (aka Carlisle Wilson) was invited by Frankie Knuckles to share his Sound Factory Bar residency where DJ Cync’s mix of sweaty NY house and slow German techno were uniquely sewn together. New York residencies at Limelight, Twilo and Save the Robots were followed by Munich, Paris and Frankfurt. Cync also appeared on radio FG France, Evosonic Europe and KTU New York, and became the host of Sirius Satellite Radio’s national mix show. He then signed his ‘Electric Avenue’ mix with Strictly Rhythm Records after it was a hit at the Miami Music Conference.
Their latest incarnation as Liquid Agents has led to new musical landscapes for both collaborators. Their goal is to keep the dance floor moving and the music fresh and exciting — music familiar enough for the crowd to grasp but different enough to leave its mark.
A futuristic interpretation of the classic Depeche Mode sound. Fueled by elements of electro, tech house, glitch and electronica, amongst the Liquid Agents signature sound.
