About me:

Hello. My name is Ewan. I play guitar for Talanas, our debut EP is soon to be released. I've been playing guitar for around 15 years and I've recently got into 7 string guitars. I mainly favour Ibanez guitars and Mesa amps. I'm also into doing Sound Design for film and animation, and I've worked on various shorts, such as Paul Duffield's Rolighed. I did a Drama degree at Royal Holloway, and later an MA in Soundtrack Production at Bournemouth Media School. At various times I've done things such as acting, playwriting, and other arty endeavors.

Alright man, just checked out your demos man, they sound fuckin sick, lovin the meshuggah influence at the start and end of the first track, works really well, and the soloing is all incredible, reminds me that i need to practice haha :) I look forward to hearing your band when you get it together and recording.

I'd forgotten I'd left that poster up in uni, we tried out like 7 or 8 people on guitar in the end and chose one a couple of weeks back, so i can't wait to get back in bournemouth now and just get everything going :)

As for the effects I use in the tracks, I'm guessing your talking about the master channel effects, in demo one, the effects as it goes into the beat down are a retrigger on the snare, and modulation on the tom fill. on "Grand finale" I used bit-smashing with the wet mix gradually increasing, then a tapestop as it goes into the ambient section. The ambient section has loads of gating, delay, modulation, retriggering, reversing and general over production lol :)

Ewan, I hope your well sir, I have two distinct memories of you. Firstly Specialist Music in year nine where you casually picked up Alex Harbournes guitar and played the best version of Smells Like Teen Spirit ever played. Secondly when I gave you my email address in Resistant Materials and I learnt the valuable lesson from you to never have your name in your email address! classic
