About me:
Josh Horowitz is the Founder and Head Coach of Liquid Fitness,
( www.LiquidFitness.com ) an organization that specifically caters to cyclists of all levels of experience and interest. Founded in 2003, Liquid Fitness provides a comprehensive, 360 degree approach to cycling training by incorporating physical and mental training and nutritional guidance in an individualized monthly coaching program.
Horowitz’s passion for cycling was cultivated at the annual National Championship Road Race held in Philadelphia, the city where he was raised. Inspired by hopes of one day climbing the Manayunk “wall,” he began racing on a competitive level at age 14. Upon his acceptance to the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, Horowitz put his racing on hold to pursue a BFA in Film.
After graduating from NYU, Horowitz relocated to Los Angeles where he ultimately returned to competitive bicycle racing. His international racing career began as a Category 2 racer where he entered and completed the Milk Ras stage race in Ireland.
Shortly upon his return, Horowitz was invited to be a part of the first American composite team to participate in the Tour of Cuba where he, subsequently, was the first American to complete the grueling 2 week race. Horowitz is currently a member of the Kahala La Grange squad, one of the top ranked elite amateur racing teams in the United States. He continues to race both nationally and internationally and has competed in the Tour of the Southland in New Zealand and the Vuelta a Sonora in Mexico.
A five time State Champion in the team time trial competition, Horowitz consistently secures notable results in National Race Calendar events. He has completed the Tour of the Gila, the Tri Peaks Challenge, Redlands Stage Race, Cascade Cycling Classic and San Dimas Stage Race.
A USA Cycling (USAC) Licensed Coach and Certified Personal Trainer and Spinning Instructor. Horowitz has worked with athletes of all ages and experience levels.
During his early years in the fitness industry, he worked under the guidance of best selling fitness author, Steve Zim, and focused specifically on weight training using the Hot Point Fitness methodology. While working at Zim’s gym, A Tighter U, Horowitz developed a business plan for Liquid Fitness and ultimately left to found the company.
Liquid Fitness supports cyclists across the United States, providing coaching plans that take into account the unique strengths, challenges and goals of each individual athlete.
As head coach, Horowitz created an exclusive coaching philosophy and all coaches contracted by Liquid Fitness are extensively trained in his method.
Horowitz has gained international recognition in the cycling industry as a regular contributor to the “Toolbox” section of www.pezcyclingnews.com. Writing for Pez, Horowitz coined the “Periodization for the Mind” mental training method. He also wrote a series on “The Concept of Power” and how to “Be Your Own Coach.”
Horowitz’s articles have also been published in Performance Conditioning Cycling and on www.active.com, www.cyclingnews.com.
Horowitz lectures on the topic of mental training to cycling clubs and private clientele across Southern California. He is experienced in the technique of guided visualization and has led large groups and private sessions in meditation for “seeing the success you want to achieve.”
Who I'd like to meet: Anyone interested in improving their cycling game. I'm also looking for other cycling coaches to create a worldwide coaching network to share knowledge and ideas.
Just wanted to stop by and let you know I have started my racing season here in norcal and it was great to be wearing the liquid cycling colors this season. Also wanted to say that I am stoked about the coverage you guys are getting at the redlands race. I really enjoyed the picture of Kris Koke. Its nice to know I am not the only one riding an Argon 18.
