... books (and yea, i'll buy one for it's cover. Hey don't scoff... it's how I discovered Inkheart.) movies... can never get enough.
Believe it or not... the work I do. I love it. Couldn't image another profession (well, ok, maybe my first love, but that's history, per choice. Does anyone else practice "on demand crying" or "instant temper tantrum" when driving for long periods of time?) I'll never give it up even if at times it forces me to do other things that I don't so much like.
I love green... as in nature. Some folks accuse me of having a forest in my house (talkin' to you Amanda). Can't help it.... there isn't a tree or pinecone I don't love. If it has snow on it, all the better. I can't understand anyone walking around a track when there are hiking trails. For some reason, having sparkling white lights on trees year-round just makes me happy. What's wrong with that?
Music
"Those who hear not the music think the dancers mad"
....a little of this and a lot of that.
A lot of my very favorites are on my playlist to the right to share with you, (as well as some chosen for my friends who visit this page because they made me.)
(And who else took WAY too long to figure out that it's David Spade backing up Zombie in Living Dead Girl?)
After giving my IPOD a good workout, I thought of more to beef up this section. Hiking up killer, death march fire trails music: NIN, Zombie, one of the best is Limp Bizkit "Break Stuff" which is not one you sing in front of your mom.
Faves: Yes and Ronnie Montrose. I could live on a desert island with his cover of "Town Without Pity". I love soundtracks with my favorite CD right now, hands-down being The Return of the King.
Movies
Movies that make me feel.... love, fear, pain, revulsion, lust, sadness, rage, happiness... electrifying chemistry between characters... Yea yea... I'm a total girl, but when I watch a kiss on screen, I want to feel it. Nothing is better than actors who can speak to you with their eyes and expression without a single spoken word.
favorites? ...too many to mention really... but here's a sampling with artistic and extremely shallow comments alike listing some of those that I've seen so many times, I literally know every word, every note of every song in the soundtrack, every scene in detail, every expression of every character.... (ok, not really, but I know them pretty well):
* LotR Trilogy(add #1 favorite book, an amazing work of art plus Viggo as Aragorn-love, and Sean as Boromir-love, and Ian as Gandalf-love, and David as Faramir-love, and Cate and Liv ... and well... no more comment necessary)
* Dear Frankie (One of the most beautiful films - tugs my heart almost unbearably no matter how many times I see it ... THANKS MOM - amazing when you are astounded by a performance, and then realize you have been astounded by this person before... my highest praise for an actor. Check out 2002's The Jury if you need further proof.)
* Cool Hand Luke (Paul Newman at his best which is saying something)
* Chocolat (gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous movie.... never get tired of it. it's also my favorite Depp flick which some might find strange... must be the hair.)
* Love Actually (saw it on my dad's b/d & Colin Firth utters a line that was my dad's favorite song ... smiled through tears... every time I watch it, I spend the entire film with a big fat grin on my face. I couldn't say a favorite scene if my life depended on it)
* Moulin Rouge (after the first 10 viewings. First one put Dev and I into seizures but really, who knew Ewan can sing so very well?!)
* Blade Runner (duh)
* Storm of the Century (Andre Linoge.... damn Steve, why couldn't this be a very long, full-sized novel?!?)
* The Stand(Thank you Steve for this very long, full-sized novel. And thanks again Mick - you never fail to amaze.)
* Desperado (Kick ass action, lots of Tarantino humor and my first glance of Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek ... more beauty has never graced the screen.)
* Krakatoa, East of Java (so I'm obsessed with volcanoes? Add a childhood crush on Sal Mineo, and there you have it. Sidenote, I wore out the novelization so badly, I had to buy a 2nd copy. Which I still have. And read.)
* Steel Magnolias (A friend and I were talking and quotes from this one came up. I can't believe I didn't think of it when making this list. SM is probably one of the best ensemble casts ever as well as an amazing script. I could never imagine it on screen after playing with it on stage in college, but wow.. they done it proud.)
* Season of Miracles (the warmest, fuzziest, sweetest Christmas movie ever)
* Dantes Peak (There's those volcanos again, a gorgeous small town ... and pretty Pierce to boot)
* Ever After (One of the best feel-good movies for cuddling up on the couch with kids, cats, & soft blankets)
* ... and the list goes on and on and on...
FAVORITE MOVIE QUOTE OF ALL TIME:
"Assumption is the Mother of all Fuck-ups." (Eric Bogosian, Under Seige 2)
Television
Alas... no tv reception.
but.... have to thank abc.com for their full-episodes. I got to polish off Lost (happily intrigued again and Thank You PTB for not killing Sayid), Grey's Anatomy (hated the finale) and Ugly Betty (wonderful show... who else thinks there is muy chemistry between Daniel and Betty?)
Also, finally got a hold of the Firefly series DVD's and all I can say is WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY THINKING canceling this show??
Books
...again....too many to list. I tend to go through stages - horror, spies, murder mysteries, sci-fi, etc... Lord of the Rings is an all-time favorite definitely - I re-read it every couple of years. Always been hooked on King, especially The Stand. (Green Mile was great too).... Richard Matheson has always been a favorite. Cataclysm and Lucifer's Hammer are two of my very favorites and are happily worn out. Robert Ludlum's earlier stuff was/is still some of my favorites. I really like James Patterson and snatch up his stuff pretty quickly. During the holidays I can't help myself and read as many warm & fuzzy, gushy Christmas romances as I can get my hands on. I found a book in an old used book store (seriously old... like stacks all over the place, spider webs... dust... the owner wrapped your purchases in brown craft paper and tied them with string. I enjoyed that as much as the book and took my own good sweet time in opening it.) It was called "Modern Stories of Christmas Past" and dated 1924. The first story is one called "A Candle in the Forest" by Temple Bailey. It's a gorgeous story and that book has sat on my nightstand for almost 20 years.
Heroes
hmmm... my mom and dad for giving me the most amazing, happy childhood and traditions to pass on ... my son for everything he's been through and my daughter for living alongside of it.
Along, with my first priority... being mom. ... designer, marketing, charity event planner with about 90% of my clients in LA which makes me wonder why I don't actually live there. Santa Monica is my comfort town, so I can easily see myself there eventually.
I'm a sentimental, bossy, affectionate, talkative, sarcastic, family-oriented, somewhat obsessive, workaholic, unconditionally loving brat. I like my toys (state of the art electronics, but actual TOYS too.... I have the best action figure collection around) I am also old-fashioned wishing that somethings would stay the same.
I am totally with my good friend Missy .... I don't care what you do for a living to pay the rent or morgage on your mansion ~ it's the kindness shown to others that makes the difference in whether I actually care to know you. Confidence is good. Conceit and superiority complex... not so much so.
Who I'd like to meet: I'm not one who "likes to meet".
That's torture.
I prefer to Get. To. Know.
The best is when I meet someone for the first time~
a look, a hello, a written word or a fingertip touch and it clicks.
It doesn't happen often but when it does, I know immediately that this person is going to be very important in my life.
How are you doing? Ive been kinda busy..We all got laid off on Breaking Bad so I had a spot on the keeper. It was pretty cool.Got some good camera time.I gotta get the time together and get some new headshots done so I can get serious again. You been busy as usual?
