An angel...puking up a hairball. Kidding. I have no idea how to answer this question. Obviously...
I've spent the last five years or so hosting shows and programming channels at Sirius Satellite Radio. At Sirius, I created a channel called Boombox - an extremely funky radio station which featured breakbeats, mashups, remixes and bootlegs. I also helped launch Chill - which I think is still the best chillout station in the nation. Currently my Boombox Radio show can be heard Saturday nights, 10pm-Mid EST on Alt Nation (Sirius 21/XM 47). That's on Sirius XM Satellite Radio. Details at www.sirius.com and on my site, www.liquidtodd.com
I've been working on major market radio stations for almost 15 years. When I was on terrestrial radio I co-hosted the ALTERED STATE show with El Covino on 103.5 WKTU for about a year and a half. ALTERED STATE was kind of a continuation of my previous radio show, SOLID STATE, which aired Saturday nights on 92.3 K-Rock for eight years from 1997-2005. Both shows were cancelled - along with pretty much all of the 'specialty shows' - when both stations went through format "adjustments."
In addition to my radio stuff I do a little writing, am very active in progressive political issues and like to hang with my dog, Shadow. I also tour quite a bit - playing clubs, festivals and raves. A lot of my touring is done with Paul Oakenfold - one of the biggest DJs in the world and a real swell fella too. I tour with Paul all over the USA, Canada, Mexico and South America. You just can't beat being paid to play music for people on a large, very loud sound system. I highly recommend it. My main website - which has more information than you'd ever want to know about me - is www.liquidtodd.com
Thats fucked up that sirius takes the best of sirius off the air and puts the crap of xm on!!! I came to sirius for the breaks not the sleepy music on now!!! Act of congress to get back on?
WTF! as the kids say. You had a great run on BoomBox Todd. Thank you for being the voice of broken beats for these last few years. Thank you for allowing me to play my music around the world. Corporate mergers suck. I never thought a downturn in the economy would pinch the breaks. Your knowledge, insight, and keen ear for the funk will be missed. Your friend, Filthy
I noticed the other day that Boombox was gone - and I can't say that I've been more disappointed in any service in my life.
I'm calling Sirius today to let them know that once football season is over, I'll be canceling for good if you and Backspin are not back to what they were.
They are also censoring shit on the Lithium, Hip Hop Nation, etc channels.
Oh well - sorry to see you gone, hope they get shit straight...I read a post saying that when someone called Sirius told them that the channels will be back on in Dec.
Man, this is a bummer about Sirius cancelling Boombox! Your show was the the only thing I liked about Sirius. Good luck on your new show, I wish you the best. I can only hope you change the face of ALT nation..
