My family and friends; my dog; reading; writing; painting; walking; conversation; lounging around watching movies; chocolate; red wine; making music; dancing (Gabrielle Roth's 5 Rhythms and, more recently, Egyptian dance); perception; learning something new; the natural world; exploring cyberspace; exploring myths; exploring the capabilities of the mind; discovering all I can about the nature of reality; stretching myself and breaking boundaries.
Music
I love most music. Most listened to are: Dead Can Dance; This Mortal Coil; David Sylvian; Peter Ulrich; Alwa Glebe; Nickelback; Antonio Pontarelli; The Waterboys; Phantom of the Opera; Lynyrd Skynyrd; Spirit, Buffy Sainte-Marie; Hothouse Flowers; Kasabian; Peter Gabriel; Marilyn Manson; Rob D; Billie Holiday; Grace Slick; and my favourite classics - Pachelbel's Canon in D Major; Holst's The Planets; Tchaikovsky; Beethoven (especially his 5th Symphony and Moonlight Sonata)
Movies
Favourite film is The Matrix because it puts questions about the nature of perception and reality, which are my absolute favourite subjects. 300, Beowulf & Grendel, A Scanner Darkly, The Fountain, Perfume, The Conventioneers, Memento, What Dreams May Come, Phantom Of The Opera, Dear Frankie, Elizabethtown, The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, Conversations With Other Women, The Big Blue, Subway (in fact anything of Luc Besson's), Snatch, Hardball, The Last Samurai, Minority Report, The Lakehouse, The Doors, Queen of the Damned, Little Voice, Edward Scissorhands, Velvet Goldmine, Nell, Practical Magic, Dragonfly, Sideways (I love the metaphors!), Mona Lisa Smile, Benny And Joon, The China Syndrome, What's Eating Gilbert Grape?, The Basketball Diaries, Kinsey, Troy, Awakenings, Gods And Monsters, The Butterfly Effect, Eyes Wide Shut, Before Sunset, Before Sunrise, L'Enfant Sauvage, The Return Of Martin Guerre, Amelie, Run Lola Run
Television
I rarely watch television
Books
I have so many favourite books that I wouldn't know which to choose. My home is full of books. Here are a few favourite authors instead: Alice Hoffman, Joanne Harris, Paco Ahlgren, Diane Setterfield, Barbara Kingsolver, J.D. Salinger, Charles de Lint, Gaston Leroux, Margaret Atwood, Colm Toibin, Bill Dawson, Umberto Eco, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Isabelle Allende, Niall Williams, Henry David Thoreaux, A.S. Byatt, Arthur Koestler, science writers (especially quantum physics) such as David Bohm, Michio Kaku, Marcus Chown, Peter Greene, Clifford Pickover, John Gribbin, George Dowson, James Gleik. And lots more! Then, of course, there are the books I have written....
Heroes
We're all heroes, engaged in our own mythic quests.
About me: Author, illustrator, journalist and screenwriter Lisa Tenzin-Dolma was born in Portsmouth, England. She spent her childhood and teens living in England, Malta, Scotland, Malaysia, and Singapore, which sparked a deep ongoing interest in an exploration of various cultures and philosophies and shaped the course of her life and work.
Lisa won numerous awards for her writing while still in school. She moved to Ireland just after the publication of her first book and worked for an Irish newspaper. Then, on returning to England, she moved around for a few more years before settling in the beautiful Roman and Georgian city of Bath.
Lisa had an early career as a singer/songwriter, and trained in nursing, aromatherapy, Astrological Psychology and counselling. She has worked in haematology as a Medical Laboratory Assistant, and was Director of a large Healing Centre, as well as a clothes and jewellery designer, astrologer, tarot counsellor, proof-reader, journalist, interviewer and illustrator.
In between writing 11 books and bringing up 5 children, Lisa has had over 500 magazine articles published on a wide range of subjects. Her interest in the sciences sparked a study of the principles of quantum physics, cosmology and Chaos theory, which led her to explore the synthesis between the sciences and self-understanding. She is a member of the Institute of Noetic Sciences.
Her latest book, "Mind & Motivation: The Spirit of Success", is a distillation of Lisa's explorations into the paths to purpose and fulfilment, and how our perception shapes our reality.
