Oxford, Ohio based singer/songwriter Lisa Biales grew up in a musical family. Her dad played upright bass and her mom sang and acted in Community Theater. Lisa's brother, a drummer, showed her how to play the guitar when she was eleven and that started a long time love affair with the guitar and songwriting. The theater bug bit too, Lisa started writing plays as a youngster, casting and directing her playmates in a garage that was turned into a theater for the day. No matter what the play, the big finale was always a heartfelt rendition of "Moon River." I guess you could say that Lisa has been performing all her life. Since those early days, Lisa earned a Masters Degree in Theater from Ohio University, where she loved delving into acting and play writing.
Lisa started her musical career at the age of thirteen, performing 10 minutes of music, (some original) between her father's Dixieland Music at Lesourdesville Lake/Americanna Amusement Park. She has done voice over work and jingles for big corporations, performed at political functions for State and National officials and crooned in the homes of the rich and famous. Sang demos for Platinum Award Winning Songwriters (Peter Larson, a really cool guy, had a song go platinum with Better Midler's From A Distance Album)and recorded with Grammy award winning film producets (Jeff Redefer, another really great guy). Fronted various songwriter, dance-party-wedding bands, directed musical theater, wrote, produced and directed musicals for children. Had leading roles in community theater and has appeared on radio and television.
In 1999, Lisa released her first solo album “Music Box” which is getting National and International airplay. Her song "Playing With Angels" went to NUMBER 1 in Australia in August of 2008. The album has been called a work of art. ". . . a compelling songwriter." ~ Dirty Linen
In 2006, Lisa released a second album of original music entitled, "Chasing Away The Blues" which was produced with Grammy Nominated Celeste Friedman. The album has received national attention on the folk and blues scene and is being played around the world. The song "Where the Buckwheat Blooms"hit the charts at 32, right between Bill Monroe and Cat Stevens that year.
In 2007, Lisa released "COME TO ME" which was produced by Nashville "Kitten" Gary Scott. The amazing title cut is a thrill to see her perform up close and personal. Her rendition of George Harrison's "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" has earned Lisa great respect for her guitar work.
Lisa has been likened as the "Little Sister" of Allison Krauss and Rory Block. "The Norman Rockwell of songwriters with a crystal pure voice." Marc Nolis, MazzMuzika Magazine, Belgium.
in 2008, Lisa released "Yellow Shoes" a CD geared toward the young at heart. You'll hear blues, jazz standards, traditional music and Lisa's cleaver original tunes. A must have for your collection. Sweet, innocent, and a smile on your face.
Also in 2008, "Hey There . . . 12 songs that you wish your girlfriend had written." Produced by Todd Burge. This marks Lisa's finest songwriting to date. She takes you by the heart and leads you to a place that is vulnerable and un-explored. Innocent, wordly with mezmerizing lead and harmony vocals that are rich with visual imagery.

"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan.
