It's fun!
About me: I grew up in the wilds of Montana, catching frogs and snakes, building forts and campfires, swimming in sunshine, and eating burnt marshmallows. Winters were muffled and silent, gassomer flakes floating down in the rose glow of street lamps at night. I left school and Montana at twenty one to travel and work on a fish processing vessel for a year. I stayed aboard the M.V. Stellar Sea for four contracts where I worked with Opilio Crab(aka Snow Crab), Salmon, Cod, and Herring. I was tossed by forty and fifty foot swells on the Bering Sea, saw whales and sealions, the coasts of Canada and Alaska's Alutiean Islands. Many times we were closer to Japan than the U.S. We used to dock at a place called *"Sqaw Harbor". The irony(irony, because the word *"sqaw" means woman) of the situation was that the only person living within a hundred miles was one Inuit man named Rob Jimmy and his two dogs.
I've gone through the angsty youth stage, the punk/ somewhat goth stage, the starving artist stage, the crunchy granola stage, and forty seven stages in between. The main constants in my life have always been my friends and family, a love of art, and the creation of it.
I'm now living in Portland, Or. where I am attending school for a degree in Graphic Design. I love music, dancing, painting, hiking, swimming, biking, and going fishing with my boyfriend. I feel I've had the chance to meet some extraordinary people and see some incedible places in my journeys. I'm excited about what life will bring me next.
*- There has been some controversy over the word, "squaw" in recent years. I have done a considerable amount of research on this subject in an effort to avoid offense when describing some of the places I have been. In my research I have found that "squaw," is not a bad word. It translates simply as "female," or "woman," and only within the last 40 years has it been used incorrectly as a slur. Many Native Americans are upset that a piece of thier language has been used this way, but are even more upset that rather than educating people on the correct usage of the word there is instead a movement to depricate the word all together. In respect for the word, and the cultures in which it originated I use the word with it's correct and original context.
