Sleek melodies and narratives dance out of Lisa Forkish' mouth, where she also keeps her heart, unabashedly. A songstress who isn't afraid to write with her own blood, Lisa uses ripe, intricate harmonies to stain her words, as can be heard on her album "Between You and Me." Her vocals are fervent; her piano, patient. She is nobody's baby, fool, or single genre to peg. Still, seduced by the music of Joni Mitchell, Nina Simone and Stephen Sondheim, Lisa alludes to folk, jazz, and musical theatre in her compositions. A "gal Billy Joel!" exclaims Mark Simos, writer for Alison Krauss and professor at Berklee College of Music where Lisa was educated. Songwriter John Aldrich says "Watch for the name Lisa Forkish!"
Thank you for the friend request! I really enjoy your music as well... what a neat coincidence that we're both Eugenians (one former, one current, at least). It'd be great fun to do a show together sometime! Let's discuss!
In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the gorgeous weather :)
Lisa, your "favorite" students are now rock stars in Prague! We're getting played on the radio in The Czech Republic. Thanks for your help. We couldn't have done it without you! -Ivan & Sean-
