Sarah Mclachlan, Willie Nelson, Dave matthews, Kathy Mattea, Stevie Nicks, Karen Carpenter, Alanis Morisette, Wynona Judd, Tori amos, Pink Floyd, Ani Difranco, Tracy Chapman, Jewel, John Mayer, Patty Loveless, You can see why I have a Country Alt/Folk sound right?
Any good story telling song. I think those are the best songs! Song's with meaning & feelings behind them. That is what inspires me to want to write. Not just the same 3 words repeated over & over again & spelling stupid things out that we already know how to spell. Give me some real talent people! We need more of that on the radio these days! Too bad if you don't look like a playboy bunny you can't get a record deal anymore. What does that say about our society? Do we really not care about people anymore that have something to say? It's all about what's on the outside, not the inside that counts. It's about time that America has some artists with REAL TALENT get the respect & representation they deserve. We are the ones that lived through the heartache & the stories that we write. We sing them with real passion, & Emotion. It doesn't get any better than that!!!! :)

on the West side of Columbus, Ohio.
Some of her first memories are of singing "Daisy", "Bicycle built for 2", & "You are my sunshine" as early as age 3 with her great Grandmother encouraging her to sing. Maybe that's what started it all.
***********FROM CITY LIFE TO FARM LIFE*********************
When Lisa was 10 her parents moved to an old farmhouse in a small single stoplight town called Ashley, Ohio way North of Columbus, OH. It is there that Lisa really discovered her musical gifts. She always walked way out through the cornfields & would sing as loud as she could, just to see how it would sound, & knowing that no one else could hear her allowed her to find her true vocal abilities.
***********A NATURAL TALENT***********************
Lisa wrote her first song at age 12 & has not stopped writing ever since. She stopped counting how many songs she has written at around 320. She's written over 400 songs now. She has been playing Guitar for 14 years now & has never had a single lesson! She can also play the Harmonica. She taught herself everything she knows. Not 1 single voice, writing, or Guitar lesson ever in life! She has been playing at Coffe shops & Bar's all over Ohio for the past 13 years!
*************MUSICAL INFLUENCES***************************
Since Lisa lived from age 10 - 18 on a farm, Nature & Country life has inspired her in many ways when it comes to writing. She also got her "Country" influence from living that life, as well as hearing the good old Country Greats from her Father. Hank Williams Sr., George Jones, Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, & Willie Nelson, just to mention a few.
********************************************************
Lisa was influenced by many variety of Genre's. Her Mother exposed her to the Motown, & old school R&B side of music. Marvin Gaye, Luther Vandross, Lionel Ritchie, & Nat King Cole just to mention a few of those. The funny thing is that Lisa would have never guessed after all those years her mom was with her Redneck father that her mother would eventually marry an African American man. Yes Lisa is a part of a bi-racial family & does not like any type or racism AT ALL! Her step-father is a great man & would do more for her than her biological father ever would.
**********************************************************
Lisa's friends & cousins exposed her to some ole Rock -N-Roll. Ozzie Osborne, Metallica, Nirvana, Pink Floyd, Tool, etc...
*********CONTEST’S LISA HAS SUCCSEDDED IN *********
Speaking of contests Lisa has tried out at so many she can't begin to keep count. Even though she didn't make it on American Idol or Star Search or all the other contests she tried out for she has had a few successes. Lisa's motto is "If you don't try out you will never know how far you could have made it!" Here are some of the success Lisa has had so far:
*********************************************************
1) At her "Buckeye Valley" High School Jr. Year talent show (1993), she sung a song acopello that she wrote at age 13 called "What's it like" & not only did she make people cry, & get a standing ovation. Despite not being the "Popular" kid in the contest she won 1st place!
**********************************************************
2) Lisa has won 3 different smalltime Karaoke contests through out the years at local bars just prizes of $50.00 for 1 & $100.00 each for the other 2. Nothing big, but it's still a win!
************WNCI DIVA FINALIST********************************
2) Lisa made it on the Big local Radio station WNCI's "DIVA" contest as a top 10 semi-finalist about 6 years ago out of 500 contestants. She got to sing her original song "Natural High" & play it with her Guitar live on the air!
***********GIMMIE THE MIC COLUMBUS FINALIST********************
3) Just last year 2006, Lisa made it as a top 20 semi-finalist on the local television show "Gimmie the mic Columbus" out of about 700 contestants. She got to sing on TV a Norah Jones song called "Sunrise".
***********************************************************
She wants to try out for Nashville Star next since that is right up her alley, if she can make it to the try outs. I'm sure she'll keep you posted if she would happen to make that one.
**********LISA RECORDED 2 ALBUMS SO FAR!**********************
She recorded a 10 song CD all original songs called “Honesty” in 2003 & just finished her 2nd 10 song acoustic, album “Damn Society” in 2006 thanks the help of to Bob Saul's Guitar Shack in Columbus, OH & Stereo Audio Prophets!. She did her 3rd album in 2008 in Bob Saul's studio as well. She’d like to do more when she gets the money to do it!
***********LOCAL TV SHOWS LISA HAS BEEN ON SO FAR**************
Lisa has been on a few local cable access shows in the past. She was on a variety/comedy show called "Cowpatty Paradise" 2 times as a guest local musician about 10 years ago.
**********************************************************
She was asked to be a guest on the old "19 @ Noon" news show on local channel 19 about 6 years ago. She got to sing 3 original songs & was interviewed.
**********************************************************
She was on a local channel 21 series called "The Lounge" where they showcased different local talent every night.
***********DIVORCED PARENTS********************************
Lisa's parents divorced after 20 years of marriage when she was 15 years old. This was a VERY hard time for her as it would be for anyone, especially at that age. This was also when the big family secret came out that her sister & she had different biological fathers. This was a much unexpected shock to both her & her sister, but it did help explain why they are so different, & people who knew them always said they could not believe they were sisters because they looked & acted nothing alike. Who would a thought... Seeing, living, & experiencing this heartache inspired many great songs to be written by her. She stayed with her father & they lived alone after that.
****HER DAD’S BIRTHDAY/GRADUATION PRESENT TO HER IN 1995*********
At age 18 Lisa had to move out on her own. Her Emotionless, Vietnam Vet, Fathers exact words, about 2 weeks before her 18th B-day he said in his hillbilly way , "Willie, (that's been her nickname with family since she went around singing "On the road again" all the time at age 5), "Willie your gonna be an Adult soon. It's time you think about where you’re going to live. I'm selling the house & moving out & you ain't going with me." That was it! No Graduation card, congrat's, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, nothing! Talk about a shock to hear that! Her parents were pretty cold like that. No spoiled child here that's for sure. She describes her parents as kind of like Birds are with their kids. When the baby bird is just old enough to try to fly, the parent kicks it out of its nest & says "Fly or die your not getting any help from me", & that's exactly what they did. Luckily she is still alive. So she has been on her own since the age of 18 struggling as a full time Customer Service representative & Dreaming about being a great, famous, singer/songwriter every single day & night.
**********LIFE IS BETTER NOW AT 32 YEARS OLD********************
Now Lisa is living in Columbus, OH with her wonderful boyfriend of over 4 years, her Angel fish, & her two cats Razzi & Azriel. She has come a long way, but the struggle never ends. She still plays out at some local bars & coffee shops from time to time. If she never hits the big time, she is satisfied with the compliments, & feelings that people express to her at every show. Lisa has said that "Just making 1 person cry means that I made them feel something & that to me is a very moving, & Powerful thing."
************GOTTA GIVE GOD SOME PROP’S*************************
She is very thankful to God for all the material things she has, even though it's not much, she knows it is better than having nothing at all. She is thankful to God for all of her close friends, some of her family, & the great talents & gifts that he has given her. She only hopes to be able to share the stories she has to tell, & feelings she'd like to express with the rest of the world, & make them think for a minute. Make them feel it too!
