Go to my Photo Section to see living proof of my early indoctrination! I grew up on the Beatles, Neil, Joni, Janis, James, Crosby, et al...and thus embraced the world view that music should be ABOUT something, and should make you want to MOVE (Either inside or out. Or preferably, both).
Sounds Like
Well, hopefully not TOO much like (because I sound like Lisa McCormick the most!): But according to some listeners, comparisons could be made to Aimee Mann, Sarah McLaughlan, Dido, Bonnie Raitt, Shawn Colvin, Norah Jones.
Hey! Thanks for stopping by! Ok, I admit I'm new to this MySpace thing, so bear with me as I catch up with the modern world. More to come soon, but meanwhile, if you're wondering, here's what the "officials" say about me and my music. Oh, and if you want to know more or hear samples, you can always go over to my website at www.LisaMcCormick.com.
A touch of sultry jazz and a splash of spicy Spanish characterize the latest collection of finely crafted songs from singer/songwriter Lisa McCormick. An Indie treasure, McCormick’s elegant command of language, unforgettably intimate vocals, and fluid acoustic guitar have been delighting acoustic music-lovers and earning high critical acclaim for many years.
Lisa McCormick's strong clear voice and sharp sense of humor light up the stage, with distinctly original contemporary acoustic songs characterized by daring sophisticated lyrics and infectious guitar rhythms. Her debut CD, "Right Now", produced by veteran folk/rocker Jonathan Edwards, earned McCormick instant acclaim, including the honors "Artist of the Year" and "Album of the Year" by Maine Public Radio, the Grand Prize in the USA Songwriting Competition, Grand Prize in the MIXX Magazine Indie Band Contest, and three preliminary GRAMMY nominations. Lisa McCormick was invited by Vermont Senator James Jeffords to be the one performing artist to represent her home state on the Millennium Stage at Washington’s Kennedy Center.
“This woman is an absolute genius. She is funny, sexy, smart, literate, sardonic, witty, ironic, and she sings with all the power of a rock diva.” (New England Performer Magazine, Boston, MA)
“In a field crowded with would-be philosophers, poets, and storytellers…McCormick stands out as someone really worth hearing. The album…becomes more intriguing with each passing verse.” (The Washington Post)
“I couldn’t believe the power of McCormick’s voice in the raw…all ragged emotion, playful exuberance, palpable presence…a remarkable performance by a remarkable singer/songwriter.” (Metroland, Albany NY)
Happy Holidays from an old friend! I tried to call you over Thanksgiving---did you move? I'll be in NYC for the Holiday and New Years...hopefully 2010 will rock harder than '09

the description of the CD is as follows:
For his solo debut, Keith Murfee teams up with folk artist Lisa McCormick as he creates a musical journey unlike any other...a concept album of sorts, poems drifting in and out of his mind, Murfee and McCormick pull you into an album that's taken over three years to record...musical chemistry is evident in every song...and in the end, is a worthy debut full of lyricism and heartfelt passion
The price per disc is $12...do not buy a copy...I will send you one soon...there's no use in an artist having to pay for h/her own work...my price is just $5.20 per disc and then it's even less in bulk.....then 10 to 11 days after Jan 1...an EP will be released...live, recorded at CSF...6 tracks....watch your mailbox...:P
I'm not sure if this site is really run by Lisa but wow, she is amazing! I saw her live a few times and the very last time I saw her, I was pregnant with my daughter... and my daughter was doing flips inside my tummy the whole time she was singing. It was amazing! Her voice is just phenominal!
Hey Lisa, Thanks for being my first guest on "Microphone On" on WTSA. You made it a really positive experience and I'm totally grateful for your participation. It's only going to get better. I'm looking forward to your concert next Saturday!
