Lisa Paton - Vox, Guitar, bits o percussion; Stuart Clark - Cajon, Guitar, Vox, Percussion
Influences
Kate Bush, Prince, Dave Grohl, Tracy Chapman, Joni Mitchell, The Lakes Blues Band, JJ Cale, John Martyn, Jeff Buckley, Janis Joplin, Nina Simone, Beck, Dylan, Matt Johnson, Sheila Chandra, Radiohead...I like too much music in too many genres to know what has influenced my own music.
I started penning tunes a good while ago but seriously since 2004, inspired by the jams and subsequent gigs played with Iona Marshall under the name of Soul Alba. When Iona's feet got decidedly itchy and took her on her travels I kept playing and gathered enough material to make an album 'Hello' with the great help of Dave McGruer (recording, mixing, bass, graphics and patience) and Stuart Clarke (every percussion instrument under the sun!).
Since then, I've had various spots on some of Edinburgh's open mic nights and had a few gigs proper, including appearing with Tryphenia (the band with Stu Clark and Pedro Lambrini Catalonia III Noooo).
2007 was a slow starter but I've enjoyed a week of gigs at this year's Fringe along with Stuart, and a turn at Shakti Women's Aid (www.shaktiedinburgh.co.uk) 21st Anniversary Ball. I've also recently had the pleasure of being picked as one of this year's winners of the Burnsong Gathering for 'Albasylum'! Pretty chuffed may I add! (Check http://www.burnsong.com/gathering07.html).
i am fond of many forms of fromage. Particularly a robust mature variety where i can lunge at it and leave dental prints embedded. However i will not entertain the feelthy stilton with fruit in it inclusive of apricots . Death to my buds of savoury.
also enjoy the londinium, and let the londinium enjoy you, quite jealous, i want to be there and playing so bad, well maybe this summer if i get some cash. So be good and be kind theghostone...
