Born in Philadelphia Pennsylvania and raised in a small Southern California town, Lisa Sanders has learned to push her musical boundaries to places that are almost never explored by Afro-American women. And she does it with such confidence with an inherent ability to make even unwilling listeners to stop dead in their tracks and ask, "who is that woman singing? And where does she get her voice?"
Lisa Sanders sings with such conviction as to make the hair stand up on the listener's arms. With a voice so penetrating it brings tears to grown men's eyes. An amazing presence and sultry charm, Lisa Sanders delivers.
The two time award winner for San Diego Acoustic Artist of the Year and the Reader Magazine's Best Acoustic Artist, has opened for such artists as Lucinda Williams, BB King, Bob Dylan, Al Green, Stevie Nicks, JamesTaylor, David Wilcox, Louden Wainwright III, Babyface and Sophie B. Hawkins. Sanders also performed at the Lillith Fair with Sarah McLachlan, Sheryl Crow and the Dixie Chicks to name a few.
With four CDs to her name including her latest, Hold on Tightly an exploration into Lisa's self described style of "black cowgirl pop" a roots/rock, blues oriented, pop CD that pushes mainstream pop to new heights. Lisa Sanders looks forward to a long career in music with touring and writing at the forefront.
