Bittersweet punk folk phazed into electric drone...
Listen Lisse started out as a solo performer with Lisa McKendrick on vocals and guitar, since then it has evolved into a 2/3 piece band, current members are: Lisa McKendrick vocals, guitar and kick drum, Eddie Darko on guitar
The most recent release is a full length album called: Pow Bang, released in 2009. After the experience of recording a first album Lisa was able to use this familiarity with the recording process to accomplish a more full sound, playing multi-instruments and layering vocals with a new found vocal confidence. Eddie Darko on guitar added an extra layer to the sound and Nick Howdle-Smith added some drum engineering to whack the sound up a bit.
"Pow Bang" is the album of an artist totally at one with her writing. It's an album that asserts it's self. It's not aggressive, there's no need to adopt a faux accent to try and make the songs sound somehow more sophisticated, the songs speak for themselves. There's a real drive to both the narrative and the music, that powers the album forward. It hints at post punk in attitude, it has a swagger that's not arrogance, more entitlement. - Fatea Magazine
In June 2007 Listen Lisse released a solo album called “It’s Not You” which is a combination of different songs which are moody and atmospheric but also energetic. The sound is filled out with a combination of instruments
: the tambourine, violin and synths, while music engineer Gary Sansom added the electronic drums. "I recorded them wanting to leave in little human errors and rebelled against highly produced mainstream music, I wanted it to be raw and unnerving but also to have a soothing kind of beauty"
Listen Lisse is due to release a 2nd album later this year, the songs "Black n Gold Angels Dust", "Stand out in a Crowd", "City of Fabrications"and "Your Lovers" which are up on the player are a sneak preview of what to expect....

Some reviews:
"The sound is remote and distant but you are drawn close to hear its intimacies. There is no ice queen here to trick and deceive for the sound has its own magical qualities that will tempt, beguile, enlighten and you will stay a while to listen, whilst the sound will stay with you." - Biddle Bro's. 2007
"Most of the songs on "It's Not You" clear the five minute mark. The epic "Fabricate" clocks over 11. None of them sound a second too long. Listen Lisse's songs feel they've been lived in like a favourite jumper. There's a couple of holes in it, but there's too many memories and too much character to do anything other than wear it again" - FATEA 2007
“Listen Lisse returns with her delicate guitar sounds complimenting her laid back voice.”
-The Spitz, June 2005
“There is some kind of delay on the guitar so that she can pick out guitar lines over the dying sustain, and it reminds me a little of Durutti Column. Lisse conjures some captivating moments.”

I'm happy to announce that my new album "Songs From The Films Of David Lynch" is out now.
"Truly unsettling and perplexingly brilliant... testament to both the quality of Lynch’s soundtracks and Truax’s talents" - The Skinny
"Truax is paying homage to a kindred spirit with this album. It's the best kind of tribute – affectionate and respectful, but with its own quirks and imaginative leaps and its own distinct identity." -The Scotsman
