About "Time to Dream":
“It might seem appropriate to find Listing Ship's Time to Dream sandwiched right between Belle & Sebastian and Sufjan Stevens on some cutesy woodland creature's iPod. The album's layers of instrumentation are so lush with banjoes, violas, and mandolins they could blanket the driest fauna....With innumerable references to nature – raindrops, sunshine, forests, and banana leaves among them -- it's hard to imagine that there's actually little that is benign about the Los Angeles-based collective's third release..."
-Julia Simon, www.SPIN.com
Listing Ship is based in Los Angeles. They have a NEW VIDEO that is directed by their friend James Fletcher. Earlier in 2008 they toured Italy. They have shared the stage with bands like Low, Pedro the Lion, Lou Barlow, Imaad Wasif, DOS (Mike Watt, Kira Roessler) Carla Bozulich (Geraldine Fibbers), and many other fine musicians.
Founding members Lyman Chaffee and Heather Lockie have played in bands together since they were teenagers. Playing with them are: Julie Carpenter on violin, Shawn Lockie on vocals, Kyle C. Kyle on drums, Laura Steenberge on contrabass, Michael Whitmore on vibraphone, 10-string and tenor guitar, banjo, mandolin.

"....I’m reminded of the stark black and white images of the bayou in “Down By Law:” the anxiety inducing stillness of the water, a boat cutting through the green surface cautiously, mist and mazes. I’m also reminded of galleys and fires and war in muddy trenches." -Jordan, www.saidthegramophone.com

Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; Historic buildings are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?
I just saw your video for "Voice of the Future." You guys are so funny. Lyman doesn't really look THAT old already does he? Just kidding. Hope you all are doing well.

Poem 2 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN
Once drove an old sedan, up north, From a place in Sydney to Cairns; Then to Kuranda I went forth, By train, to look without set plans.
I browsed through the trendy market, With fresh fruits of tropical kind; Walked to the creek through lush thicket - Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.
I dined in a scenic cafe; Then, outside, as I wrote for yen, Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey, You go walkabout with your pen.”
Request or question, I don’t know - Assured voices, elderly men. That’s now several years ago, And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.

Frogwomen’s last album is just water under the bridge and only the disrespectful de large could encourage him to create a new one… it is a one-song record which symbolically lasts 66. 6 minutes. Satan worshipping and overused topic in pop music is just the straw that allowed the struggle between the two artists to begin: a patchwork of microsongs in which each one of them tries to annihilate the other’s style, a record that ranges between love ditties, doom-noise cants, and irreverent & wild tarantellas (ehm.... maybe i’m overstating now). .
