WWE Signs New Diva

Everyone at SHIMMER - WOMEN ATHLETES would like to congratulate Serena Deeb on officially signing a contract with World Wrestling Entertainment.


From the first day she stepped into a wrestling ring, it has always been Serena's goal to earn a job with WWE. Serena moved from Virginia to Kentucky on her own dime for the sole purpose of enrolling in the Ohio Valley Wrestling training program several years ago, and she has been a mainstay in the OVW women's division ever since.


Serena debuted for SHIMMER on May 21, 2006 as a last minute substitution when an opening on the lineup created an opportunity. During the three years that followed, Serena displayed tremendous drive, determination, and eagerness to constantly learn. She has always tried to improve her game, be it in SHIMMER competition, at OVW, or in her handful of appearances for Ring of Honor.


Despite OVW losing its status a WWE developmental territory last year, Serena remained focused on achieving her goal of impressing WWE officials enough to be given a chance. All of Serena's hard work has now paid off, as she will soon be relocating to Florida to start with WWE developmental territory Florida Championship Wrestling.


Personally speaking, I feel that Serena Deeb is one of the top three female babyface talents in North America today. She's got unbelievable fire, and can project emotion better than most wrestlers of a similar age and experience level. These are essential attributes to go along with the sound athletic wrestling fundamentals which she also possesses. She's a complete package, and is perfect for television.


Serena's training at OVW not only prepared her quite well for professional wrestling in general, but also specifically for the style of wrestling which WWE is looking for. Serena's continued instruction at FCW will only sharpen her existing skills, in preparation for the next stage of her career.


The three match series between Serena and Sara Del Rey were truly breakout performances for her as a wrestler. I feel those matches excellently displayed Serena's unbelievable potential to become a star in this industry. In her outings several weeks ago at the SHIMMER Vols. 23-26 tapings in Chicago, Serena continued to show that she absolutely deserved the spot at the top of the card that she had worked her way into.


I'd like to thank Serena Deeb for all of her contributions to SHIMMER during the past three years. From all of the memorable matches, to sacrificing her car on the drive up for the SHIMMER Title Tournament weekend, Serena gave so much to our product. Though we'll greatly miss her at future tapings, Serena has now been given the chance of a lifetime-- to work her way to the top of her chosen profession.

On Tuesday, June 30, the WWE Universe witnessed 10 changes to the ECW roster, all beginning in a permanent General Manager. Tiffany has earned her stripes as the brand's director, and in doing so, she has created a new look to the barbed wire brand. She acquired five veteran additions via a blockbuster trade and she reinstituted the New Talent Initiative to bring four new Superstars to Tuesday nights. WWE.com takes a look at these new additions and what they could mean for the face of the Land of the Extreme.


Tiffany -- General Manager Tiffany has been working to shed the word "Interim" from her title. She proved herself enough to be the full-time GM to the Extreme brand through many decisions that shook ECW from the moment Theodore Long left for SmackDown. Under her direction, ECW has been a land of opportunity for the entire roster through her priorities - executing fairness and giving the WWE Universe what it wants. She will give the new Superstars every opportunity they deserve to succeed in their new brand.


Bella Twins -- The Bella Twins bring a bit of confusion to ECW, but that's certainly not all. Brie & Nikki bolster the ECW Divas division. They have seen all there is to see in WWE before coming to the Land of the Extreme, having been in both SmackDown and Raw during this year alone. Look for the Divas to find their niche and fit nicely into ECW as a dynamic duo.

HART DYNASTY -- The Hart Dynasty has proven themselves a force to be reckoned with both on ECW and throughout the entire WWE. Every Superstar should be on notice that these three are here to stay.


MELINA -- In recent weeks, Women's Champion Melina has had trouble dealing with Michelle McCool, and after SmackDown, she should be worried about how long she'll be able to keep the gold.


MARYSE -- Although the Divas Champion may not feel she was at fault for her team's loss on Raw, Maryse must know now that Mickie James is on a mission to beat her and capture the Divas Championship.


MICHELLE McCOOL -- With a win Friday night, McCool continued her recent hot streak and definitely has momentum enough for her to leave with the Women's Championship when the time is right.


MICKIE JAMES -- As she's proven several times already, Mickie James is one of the top Divas on the Raw roster. Sooner or later, Divas Champion Maryse must face her one-on-one to find this out firsthand.

Kelly Kelly To Star In New Commercial

- It was announced during Sunday’s live chat on WWEUniverse.com prior to “The Bash” pay-per-view that Kelly Kelly was running late for her scheduled chat session because she was busy filming a commercial for 7-Eleven.

For those who didnt notice, before the bash (and every other show) there is a ‘legends reel’ which plays. Former WWE Diva Candice was on that but has now been replaced by Kelly.

Night Of Champions Preview

Nobody can run forever. That’s the lesson slowly dawning on Divas Champion Maryse.


Despite the conceited Canadian’s efforts to seemingly avoid Mickie James, the Divas Champion must now face her rival one-on-one in a title match at Night of Champions.


For her part, the four-time Women’s Champion persevered match after match, defeating Maryse in singles and tag team competitions, resolute in her determination to face the Divas Champion for an opportunity at gold. That perseverance finally paid off when Mickie became the No. 1 contender to the Divas Championship after defeating three other Divas in a Fatal Four Way Match: Kelly Kelly, Beth Phoenix and Rosa Mendes. During that match, Mickie displayed the fortitude that has made her such a looming threat to Maryse.


To imply that Maryse will not put up a hard-charging defense, however, would be not only premature but foolish. With athleticism to match her beauty, Maryse has proven resourceful, cunning and willing to do just about anything to retain her place atop the Divas division. She may need to summon all of those traits in order to fend off her rival at Night of Champions.


What will happen when these sexy, smart and powerful ladies collide? Can Mickie finally capitalize on her long-awaited title opportunity? Or will Maryse use all of her craftiness to her retain her championship?

The truth of the matter is that they are looking for someone new because I have given them my notice that I will be leaving at the end of my contract this year. The fact is that I am getting married later this year and have decided to enter into a new phase of my life but I will truly miss all of you and the WWE tremendously.

HART DYNASTY -- It is true that David Hart Smith defeated Christian in singles action on ECW, but on both Monday and Thursday nights, The Dynasty lost two matches which causes them to fall two spots


MARYSE -- The time will come when Maryse will have to face Mickie James one-on-one whether the Divas Championship is on the line or not. If it is, we believe that this beautiful French Diva has plenty to worry about.


MELINA -- With a victory, Melina stays strong on the list despite dropping one spot. If she can finally get Michelle McCool out of her hair sometime soon, there will seemingly be no one to take that title from her.


MICHELLE McCOOL -- If it weren't for "The Donald" earning the No. 1 spot on the P25 this week, McCool would have been very likely to have kept her spot at No. 22 following her attack on Women's Champion Melina Friday night.
