Hey Miriam, Just dropping by to share the love!
New poem to share, take care and hear from you soon huh!

Pouliuli 13

To Tuaoloa, Edwina and Katherine

Sweeping the floor
I found a photo of you
1934, a black fox straddles
your broad shoulders

It was beneath the old dresser
beside the old singer, that crooner
sewed Sunday best; daughter’s white Sunday dress

Flying foxes terrify
your daughter, who hates them
more than snakes that bite young legs

a transistor hangs in the fale
red, languid, a gift from a
son for the return home
no AA’s
- it is 1974 after all

Dry-docked his first call,
his mother’s baby sister, his favorite Aunty,
who sings and tells him stories
he has never heard before.

Sweeping out the fale,
dust a flock of manu’sina,
hitting the sun, heading for perches
in the low hanging hands
of children playing.

Ha cool poem, you're right, I do like. Poetry Picnic is all go. Have booked a wicked spot in Western Springs Park for the 19th of Jan. Will be Ooooorsum. Bring your scrabble!

---------------
Thanks for your message above, EXCELLENT. I've been suggesting a literary picnic for about 100 years, yes, since I was born. Thank goodness someone agreed it was a good idea.

We can look into cruise ships in the New Year methinks, I have also one male poet in Australia who wants to be resident, too.

Or we could be on a private yacht, for weeks at a time I guess. I just think a big ship would be so much more grand and, well, grand.

Will try to get to Poetry Live next week, I hope it's goodwill to all people, certain young men could get used to themselves, in my opinion. Thanks for your message, great fun.

The Big Ship

I want to be resident poet on a cruise ship,
just advised another poet they can also
sail along with me.
She'd charm people, and I could have lots of time writing
while she socialises, sometimes.
We'd both construct great things, when possible.

Access to the gym, dance class and sauna.
Poets in the pool easing stress then readings for dinner.
The captain in his white uniform,
I'd fall secretly in love with him.
The waves shall break while we make a splash.

The rest is on my myspace, thought you could like it?
